im new to breeding. just started reading up on it not too long ago. i was wondering what the best ways were to choose a male.

say i order 10 seeds of the same strain. lets say 5 are male, 5 are female. to choose the best female, i would clone them, then flower them to see how they grow/smoke. from this, i can decide on females.
but with the males, the only things u can determine about them is their height, leaf color, and maybe the differences in vigor, right? how would i know which ones have the best genetic match to my chosen female, in order to get the results i want?

i understand most of this depends on the strain and the specific plants. but id like to know some other factors in choosing the male.

thanks!

Here are some points I've learned

Look for the males that look like females. If it grows fast and flowers fast, get rid of it. These are not the traits you want. If it looks female, if it is slow to show it's sex, and if the flowers also start to show trichomes as it ages, this is a good male. I've even seem males that purple.

Good luck. Do a lot of reading, look here and in Subcools organic thread to read about breeding.
