How do you remove plants from living soil no till

Sounds like you may need to serperate your compost.
Look into a worm bin also. The castings are full of enzymes from the digestive tract of composting worms. It helps break down organic matter and they help condition the soil.

So I have 65G outdoor and I replace the soil every year. It’s by far the biggest expense. Are you guys/girls telling me I can use the same soil over and over?

Doesn't Jeremy use straw to hold things down? however straw would probably get eaten outdoors. I think with the soil layer on top of wood and leaves you are getting close to hugelkultur.
