How dry before jarring?

When do you put hanging buds into jars? Should they be "crispy" to the touch or more like a little "moist" to the touch. Stem peel, or stem snap? Is dryer better, is there a "to dry".

Every time my friend jars his harvest is smells like hay the next day! but if he uses the paperbag method it turns out Sticky Icky.

i like them to feel dry on the outside to the touch.. and i like me stems to still be bendable before i jar them as well.. i know a lot of people will say wait for the stems to snap before putting them in jars, so i tried this on my first harvest, and to me, i found them to be too dry if i waited this long honestly..
i prefer them to be a lil on the wetter side when i start my cure as it's easier to take the moisture out of the buds then it is to get them moist once they dry out ime..
if i jar them and they get too wet again right away, i'll simply take them out of the jars for a few hours and let them dry a lil more before putting them back in the jars again.. you'll just need to keep an eye on them closely for the first couple of days if you like tay o dry them more on the wet side like i do..
like i said, if they're still pretty wet when i put them in, in a few hours they will get super wet again, which is just the moisture from inside of the buds coming out..
i like to burp them a few times a day for the first two weeks or so, removing them for a few hours the first day or so if they're getting too wet.. if not, i'll just leave them be, burping the jars a few times for the first two or so weeks, down to like once a day after that up till about a month..
i find that the smell and taste usually return after about 18 days in jars minimum...

hope that helps you out some..
there's also a really good thread on here from fdd2black called harvesting, a tuturial, that is what i read for my first harvest and it really helped me out a ton.. :)
