How far can one go with partial harvests?

I plan to harvest in some weeks but the lower sections of the colas are underdeveloped due to low light penetration, there are also popcorn buds developing.

I wonder if it is possible to harvest the tops and further develop the popcorn & lower growth?

What is the best way to go about it?

Lots of people do it. Whether it's "worth it" is up to the person, whether you have plants that need to go into your flower tent right away, for example. If you're not in a hurry, it's definitely worth doing. Buds need that light exposure to get tasty. You wouldn't eat a raw chicken, right? It needs time on the rotisserie!

I also would try to keep as many leaves as possible because i've already lost half of them to yellowing due to some excessive flushing i had to do.

But that is purely speculative persuation on my part, i would gladly cut off everything if i thought sugar leaves would be sufficient.

Plus you don’t have a huge thick canopy to defoliate. Not sure what he’s talking about

Good question. Thinking about it myself. Also have seeds I want to develop on some lowers.
Anyone here do this frequently with good results?
I imagine it kind of like my tomatoes or pepper plants, where you cut them down to smaller stubby branches to winterize, but do the remaining buds grow with the same vigor, or do they stunt from shock?

I'll let you know how mine goes. First attempt at it for me, I harvested the top half front right plant.
I'll be doing the same with the other three when they are ready
(This first picture I have harvest probably 4 colas off of it, the second one shows after I am done)

If the nugs don't even grow, and just ripen better, I will happy with the result.
Some buds in there are so light green, they almost are white from lack of light.
