It will all depend on your climate, my room sits at a cool 20 - 25 degrees and 50% - 55% relative humidity. after 1 week drying the stems can break and the bud feels almost too crispy to the touch, but when jarred they get a little moisture back.
I jar and leave closed for 24 hours, then burp for 2 days (about 3 hours in the evening) and leave the jars on there sides until I am ready to consume or make ISO.
I find when it seems that the buds are too dry they are perfect, but I also live in dry ass Alberta, after about two - three weeks or so in jars (it really depends on when the wife want's to try) we break it out and the bud's are usually dry with a little tackiness to them, for the moist buds, 10 minutes or so after grinding and it smokes slow and even.
I also use a green lamp in the drying room, so I can walk in and view when I want
and here are the current temps, empty room for the next two weeks (no humidifier running and Calgary fall has kicked in)
I say the best is to try and keep your humidity level around 50 - 55 constant, and once they are in jars best to just burp and not handle them too much. Really it's trial and error until you can
master your environment.
