I'm an amature, first time wardrobe with 3x25wcfl standard plant feed its 3months old and would like some feedback on what I might be missing and when hairs turn colour.

Your guess is probably going to be as good as ours. Get a microscope or hand lens and check your trichomes. You will want to go by those anyway. Also is there any way you can give her more light?

    • OK... First your plant needs to stop making white hairs...
10 days--Two -Three weeks after the last white hair...
Then the white hairs will recede back into bud and bud will plump up...
Calyxes will swell- How big are your Calyxes? They will grow to small pea size, and the two small hairs on them will recede back into calyx. So the two little hairs recede into Calyx.
After Calyx swell, bud white hairs have receded back into bud [No white hairs on your top colas]
      Then check for tric's...
Checking for Tric's before your plant stops making white hairs is jumping the gun....
Checking for amber Trichomes before any of the above listed has been met by your plant is a waste [fun waste] of time....

Ive been trying to aquire more lighting, how my more would you recomend or a different strenght?. Each site is turning but it seems she is slowing down. Thanks for reply

Completely false information. There are MANY strains that shoot out white hairs forever.
If you wait for the hairs to turn colors, you will be waiting for years.

Hair color has NOTHING at all to do with ripeness of buds. Not one single thing. It is a internet myth perpetuated by internet idiots.

Check the trichomes. Don't worry about the hairs. When you harvest the plant. Then they will all turn red.

I think your reading comprehension is a little faulty... and although I really agree with you...
Most newbies check and over check their plant's Tric's

https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/516184-trichomes-harvesting.html

  • Trichomes are of course not the only indicator of when to harvest.
There are other factors that should be taken into account when determining when to harvest.

Calyxes on the plant will swell up, these swollen calyxes are a sign of maturity.
The pistils (what some new growers call hairs) will change colour (often to an orange tinge) and recede into the calyx.
Receding pistils are also a sign of maturity.
Then there is the overall look of the plant. Many experienced growers simply go by this factor, they can determine peak harvest just by looking at the plant and seeing how it looks from afar regarding colour tinge and the look of the calyxes.

All these factors should be taken into account when harvesting. All of these factors usually align when peak harvest approaches.

and if you harvest before your plant does stop making white hairs you most likely are jumping the gun...

I totally agree... Hairs will recede... Did I say they turn color?

Totally agree... except, if you check for tric's when you still have white hairs popping up and bright white... it is a waste of time...
You are and probably harvested too early as most newbies do...

Check the trichomes. Don't worry about the hairs. When you harvest the plant. Then they will all turn red.

And, if you handle your bud excessively you will damage Tric's... Damaged Tric's are the same as degraded...

So, don't take my word for it...read up...

^ I dont care what any one says about it. I have been growing over 30 years and I have seen all types of shit.

There are plenty of strains that the hairs don't turn red until they are harvested.

But, you just keep growing out that bud until all the hairs turn red. No skin off my nose.

At one time I was an idiot like you who believed what I read. Then I had a plant 18 wks growing still all white hairs, I pulled out my scope and checked the trichs and I was around 75 % amber....

So there ya go with that "red hair" bullshit.

Who said anything about "Red Hairs"
I never said All Red hairs will turn white...
Maybe you read it, and the voices told you red...
IDK man, I agree with you... 99.9 %
It is just most newbies handle their plants too much too soon...
and should wait a bit... That was what I was trying to convey...

Ha... you were the only one saying anything about red hairs...
I just wasted 35 seconds and re-read the thread....
So... This is the Red Hair ing

You have done really well considering you only have 75 watts of CFL.
I think you have several more weeks to go but so far she looks cute
can you post more pics of the entire plant, or maybe even start a journal so we can follow your grow?
Dr. Jekyll

Doesn't look are are missing much or doing anything wrong so don't change anything.
You should consider more lights, some 2700K CFL's would help
Mr. Hyde

Thank you mister hyde quality name. Thanks for your input a friend said he was supprised considering the limated lighting next thing on shopping list. How do I start a journal isit just a thread I create and add to or do I need to do more? Thankyou hyde

Buy about 10x 100 watt equilivent and get them wired up, that's what my first grow essentially looked like. Be cautious of the heat, those things will heat a room up fast. Or spend $150.00 on an Apollo Horticulture 400watt balast, cool tube, hps, mh, hanging setup, and timer. There is a guy on amazon named lowballer I have dealt with a few times on there, very nice and helpful guy.

lowballer also sells some Apollo Horticulture 2100k cfls that look pretty interesting, might want to give them a shot if you have a limited budget as they (Supposedly) work for both veg and flower so you don't have to buy extra bulbs for different stages.
