How many Big Bud plants under 1000w bulb to maximize yield?

Depends how long you veg them for, you can do one monster one, or do a sog style and do 24+. I have about 1000 watts worth of lights, and I do 12 plants.
here's my bb x ww. might be able to get some idea of the bb side of the plant, veg these for 8 weeks from seed

It varies depending on what strain I am growing at the time. Never less than 1 pound though for the entire 12 plants. Each one yields differently, I have a few different strains going at once.
Big Bud is a decent yielding plant, I grew it before. If you did 12 Big Buds though in 5 gallon containers under a 1000, you could expect better than 1 pound.

I would and this is just my opinion, but i would have all the plants and only veg them for a few weeks from seed/clone, what you using??
and then flip them, during the veg period i would also fimming them, not too much or you'll end up with monsters like mine

You could set up a perpetual system to where you have a certain amount in flower, some in veg, and some as mothers. And still stay under your desired limit.
One thing I have learned with growing and buying seeds, the advertised potential of a strain is just that, their potential. If a strain is supposed to yield 700 grams per m2 in 55 days, it may take 10+ seeds to find one that does that. If you did cloning, you could find that 1 great pheno, and grow a nice uniform grow every time.
Like someone above mentioned, maybe try a Big Bud cross, because BB by itself is not very potent. Check into Critical Mass if you want a good yielding BB strain, that is still potent. Or look into Chimera strains, like Mental Floss, a friend grow that, and it yields huge, way more than BB, and the high is fantastic.

Never even heard of this Mental Floss, thanks, I will have to look into it. What is the high like btw?

The high is more on the sativa end. No couch lock at all. Almost totally a head high. It's a cross of DJ Shorts Blueberry strain.
