How many plants in a 10' x 10' tent? 4 1000 w or 4 600 w?

Whats good guys

I'm fixing to upgrade from a closet/tent grow to a veg/clone room, 4' x 4' flower tent, and 10' x 10' flower tent. The 4' x 4' flower tent will be used to flower test strains to find mother keepers and eventually breeding. The 10' x 10' flower tent will be a sog hybrid type grow, where I place 16'-18' topped clones in 3 gal smart pots and harvest every two months. I would like to water my plants with a drip system to automatically water them. I would like to run 48 topped plants that are finished at roughly 3 ft tall, leaving me with 2' of room to work with and for equipment.

Also I have 4 1000w lights but keep hearing that I will achieve a better results with 4 600w. Wanted more opinions on that because I always heard the more light the better.

Thanks for the input.

more light the better. eff the walkways. cram it wall to wall if your going to use the 1ks. or your going to be wasting space IMO. If you want walkways i would do the 600s for sure

if u can cool the 4 1000s in tht tent then yell ya..seems like alotta heat for the space. hope ya got good ventilation..good luck man

Do 1000ws but I'd get some dimmable ballasts, that way you can drop them to 600w if the temperatures become an issue. Also, I'd go with a walkway, big beautiful bud is great, but if you cant access it well or properly maintain it effectively than the increased lumen count might not be worth the difficulties in reaching your larger plants far from access.

Ya I was planning on either running two 8" (one for two lights) or one 12" (for all four) inline fans (Sunleaves Windtunnel/Vortex/Can).

I thought that as well Bayou, I already got 4 1000w dimmables and an older 600w. But do you agree if I started the plants closer together at the beginning of flowering and gradually moved them outward I would be able to properly maintain them until the last two weeks or so?

Excellent then! Hey man, I'm not in the business of telling people what they can and can't do; I just put my two cents in on practicality. I'm just trying to envision myself climbing through a jungle of bud in weeks 6-10 for maintenance without a dedicated walkway. Even putting your plants on rollers so you can condense them to get through would help I bet. Bigger canopy, more room for big bud, but if the whole tent is canopy, then where is your workspace/walkspace? If you section your tent into halves, you can put a foot long walkway that you could tape off in the middle. From there you could separately Scrog one side from the other, with that walkway in the middle. Daisey chain two lamps together with a Y vent on the end sucking out... yea man, would work well.

And I'd do the 1 12'inline exhaust... You could hook it up to a variable speed fan controller real easy to dial in the temps. The more I think of it, the more I do think you could get away with close spacing-> further spaced out as they grow. I just love having room to work easily in my tent... cuts down significantly on frustration and work-place mishaps ha

Ya I already got one 8" so prolly just getting another is cheaper. But electricity wise I think I might just get the 12" and will be cheaper long term. And will do man, it should be within the next two weeks hopefully. Moving sucks but starting fresh will nice. Which strains should I run first (Prolly 2-4): Cannaventure Purkle Berry, Jazz Berry Jam, Purple Berry x Strawberry diesel, Mosca C99, Sweet Tooth (Freebies doe), Subcool Deep Purple, Next Generation Avalon, Hazeman Cheese BX 1, Fugu Kush, White Grapes, Grape 13, Elepehant Stomper? That's what I got but I'm always down to get more if you got some recommendations for this style of grow.

Ya I'm not sure which 4 to start. And hazeman just re-dropped fugu kush, white grapes, elephant stomper and grape 13 on the tude today so I think I'm going to get all 4 again lol

I agree Bayou, I'll prolly go with the 12" sunleaves windtunnel with the Y vent. And I plan on running indicas so the flowering will be 7-8 weeks max so I think max they will get minimal maintenance in the last two weeks or so of flower in the closed spaced. I was also thinking of running a sog with either four 4 x 4 (harvest every two weeks) or two 4 x 8 (harvest every month) trays which would leave me walk room for maintenance.

So I guess my question is would you run 49-56 plants in closed spacing or the tray idea? Im leaning more towards the sog and tray because it will be easier to maintain and the yields should be way higher.

Yea shiz, you sounds to be pretty set up for a great grow man. If they are Indica dom., you want a good deal of spacing to work and for them to grow out. I'd go with the trays and the sog. Definitely easier to maintain and manipulate.

Side note: Anyone who says they have a 7-8 week plant, probably has a 8-10 week plant. I've never seen a mature girl at or before 8 weeks. Next harvest with your 7-8 week plants, give one plant another week or two to see how she reacts. Nearly every grower pulls too early.

Also, to make shit really easy, you could get a drum 50gal res that you keep a few airstones in and your base nutrient mix for flowering. Keep ratio's consistent and increase the strength of the concentrated mix you use as the fruiting stage goes on. Might make mixing nutrients for 4 trays in different stages a lot easier.

Ya I was just gonna run two 4 x 8 so I don't have to worry about 4 different nutrient solutions at one time. But I've got Mosca C99 and Next Gen Avalon, you don't think those are 7-8 week strains? I planned on doing the res. with airstones lining the bottom, would I need two 50 gal for two 4 x 8?
