how much hash?

I was thinking about making some bubble hash from trimmings, and was wondering how much hash is actually attained. Is there a weight ratio that can be used to figure out how much hash you will end up with. I'm guessing I will have somewhere near 2 oz of trimmings this round. Also the bubble bags are expensive and I don't want to waste my time or money if I am going to end up with a very small amount each time.

I'll also add that it depends on what sort of trim you're using. If it is the fan leaves you trimmed off the plant... maybe closer to 5% if that. If it is the leaves very close to the buds and the bud trim, maybe closer to 15%

Also, if you don't want to invest in bubble bags for 5 grams of hash (a good investment, but perhaps an unnecessary one) then using a silk screen you buy from a craft store is can be a really effective alternative (and cheap!).

With the screen you just want to make sure to actually touch and press the trim into the screen very little... try mostly to just shake it around on the screen. That way you get very little plant material in the hash, similar to bubble bags. You can even weigh the trim before and after to make sure you hit that 10 to 15% number right on the money and stop before too much plant material starts showing up in the hash.

You can end up with some very decent hash this way.

If you are looking for quantity over quality and spend the least amount of money you could try the ISOHash method?

What you need.
91% Isopropyl Alcohol
Trimmings/Bud
Jar big enough to hold them

What you do.
Take your trimming and dry them out real good, then let them sit in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Now put them into your jar.

Pour just enough alcohol to cover the trimmings.

Let it sit for 30 seconds, then shake it as hard as you can for 30 seconds.

Now pour the whole mixture through a strainer over a smooth ceramic plate.

Let the plate sit in front of a fan until it ALL the alcohol evaporates.(I would recommend letting it sit for 24 hours.)

Scrape what is left off of the plate with a razor and press it into any shape you want.

What it does.
The alcohol dissolves the trichomes (That contain your precious resin) causing them be become a liquid, after the alcohol evaporates they become solid again, and that is what you are left with on the plate.

It costs as much as a bottle of rubbing alcohol, gets a good quantity of hash aswell.

You can either do 2 more washes with your left over trimming or you can throw them away, the second and third washing will be of a lower quantity and quality.

Pic of First, Second and third wash from quarter oz. of trimmings. (Courtisy of Hashmouf from Grasscity.)
