How much light is too much?

Im planning on setting up my second grow room.But unlike the last time i dont have the freedom of isolation and has too be as discreet as possible.I have more or less every thing from trays/pumps to the 400watt HPS ill be using but have no "room" for it..so i wondering whats the minimum size all up including a shallow tray etc i can have an enlosure without wilt or serious problems?

I relize heat will also be a big problem..
Im only doing it on occasions so i guess ill just have too lockdown my room
for a while and only let the beeze in :blsmoke:

A tent type setup has crossed my mind also. Are these effecient?

Back to the original question how much light is too much? Hmmmm...I guess if it does damage to the eyes if you look at it directly or it causes so much heat that you can't control it then that would be too much light.

I once read that about 100watts/sqft was the maximum to give plants before solarization starts. For your 400w. it will light a 3x3 area with 45w/sqft. you need 4-5 feet height minimum.

Unless you have 1 600 or 1000 watt per plant with mylar arround the plant I wouldnt worry about solarization. 70-90,000 lumens on a plant is when is goes into solorization.

as long as you can keep the heat and condensation in order , get as much light as you can ,
i have 20 plants under 2200w of light hps , i built a bunker in my yard with doubble opening doors at the front i leave the doors open all day while the lights are on to allow for the heat and condensation , i shut the door only when flowering and the lights are off , i can grow like this because i live in the country in a detatched house and the nearest other house is 2 miles from me , anyway since growing like this i get great results , i grow in coca feed with coca a and b , comcat liquid oxy and pk for first week of flowering , on my last harvest of 20 plants i got 146 ounce of dried weed , the 2 best plants were one with 16 ounce on and one with 12
more light= more weed peroid
