How much smell from one plant

I dropped a dozen seeds and I'm hoping for a female. I only want one small plant as a hobby for the closet. I'm wondering how bad the smell will be from one plant if I try to grow it about 15 inches and flower it. I plan to use 1-3 CFL for the duration.

Well, its gonna be kinda hard to know at this point...Things to keep in mind... What strain will you be growing (this matters hugely)...
Will your closet have any kind of ventilation?
And you say you dropped a dozen seeds?
I wish you luck but I dont have any serious expectations from 1-3 cfl's

When it starts budding it will put off a smell like no other but as long as you have some fabreeze you will be fine.

Depends on numerous factors as mentioned. One thing I've come to find is people who have spent a lot of time around weed become immune or desensitized to the odor. If it's an indica it's probably going to smell like skunky beer right away. As the plant grows this will increase. There are different levels of skunk though depending upon the strain. You might want to look into making some kind of a filter or by using some sort of agent that eliminates odors. Ventilation as mentioned is not just important for odor control but for the health of the plant. Plants need fresh air just like humans. If the plant were outside sometimes you have to be within 10 feet of it to catch the odor. Other times you could be 50 feet away and the fragrance hits you. In a closet you will be concentrating the odors. I wouldn't spray fabreeze around your plants. I know I choke on the fumes and I think a plant would too. Maybe baking soda or one of those products you hang up in the basement found in department stores/home improvement centers.

Plants smell strong. Mine are on day 31 of veg and I can smell them when I walk in the house and they are in the back of the house so I can just imagine how they will smell once they are flowering. Don't rely on Febreze or candles or any kinda stuff like that. And you won't get much out of 1-3 CFL's esp with 15 seeds. If you dropped 15 seeds then you should get about 5-6 females I would think. Don't get in over your head. Confidence and a good idea of what you are doing will carry you along way instead of dropping seeds and hoping for something. Buy or build a filter and fan to help eliminate the smell. Febreze blends the smell, it doesn't eliminate the smell. Just gives you a febreezy bud smell. For that matter, throw some moth balls around your house to help with the smell outside plus you will keep the snakes away. Lol!!

In that case can you say Lowenbrau? But it is one plant and that should be manageable. You might want to construct a grow room within the closet so you can control the environment more.

I plant to build a small box with foil on the sides and have a system of 1 - 2 or 3 5600k CFL bulbs going. This is a hobby grow so I'm looking to learn and not necessarily score a oz. I'll be happy if it grows 15 inches and I can make it flower.

i have just harvested 2 cheese and 2 cindy they have been grown in a box on my boat, the problem is that i can not smell them i think because i have lived with them for 14 weeks.
My son-in-law came round last week and said he could smell them 10 foot from boat but i have lost any sence of smell , and apparintly they stink lol

Case and point.

they are going to smell but if you are living with them i suspect you will not notice the smell where others will. and as he said he lives in a trailor and i think that is a caravan to me in the uk i think like me he will have a job keeping it down, the carbon filter i have was no use at all.

I think for a carbon filter to be most effective you have to minimize the area it has to filter(Ie: grow tent). It's like an air conditioner. If you leave a bunch of doors open, and even windows it's like you're air conditioning the entire house. Isolate one room and you're cool as a cucumber. Isolation is key. You can't filter the world but you can filter the world if it's contained within a box/tent. I think it'll really come down to how much stink you have to filter. Don'y let the skunk out of the cage is what I'm saying.

Not sure that i had a good one as it seemed to do nothing at all.
in the boat i built a ply box 5 ft high x 4 ft long and 2 ft deep totaly sealed in this i cut 3 4 inch holes at floor level and at top a 4 in hole that i put the filter on to. 600w lamp 4 plants altho they never looked healthy they produced 71/2 oz of the best i have ever had, so not to bad for a first grow.
but i am concerned that with living in the same space my smell for it has completly gone and i can now smell nothing even when in a room with several people smoking , but i think it will come back now it has all gone.
but i still worry about people walking past the boat smelling it and reporting me to police. so i need to try a diferent filter next time.

also next time i think i need to put the extracted air outside not as i have done this time into the living area of the boat.

this one is about 14 in long and 8 in round started out white now black but as i said did not seem to stop smell at the end

it'll smell my dude, and hopefully it'll smell great

Just thought I'd post a follow up.. It took a few months but it turned out pretty good for a CFL pc case grow. Now I don't know if I should harvest it or let it continue. I already harvested some samplers.
