how much wattage per outlet

Hey all, this is my first post.
Not sure if someone has answered this already but was wonderin how much an outlet can handle.
Swim has two 150 watt hps, two t5 54 watt, and two t12 40 watts.
Just got the new 150 watt and everything was fine b4 on one outlet, but an hour after swim turned it on the it flipped the breaker.
Swim would care less if he didnt have to call someone everytime it happened.

i believe it depends on what outlet you are trying to use. If you are living in a apartment in America chances are the outlet is 15amp. Its good you know what watt they are but you also need either volts or amps to convert. I grow outside so i am not sure of this.

You need to find the breaker for that outlet, it will show you the amps. Then you need to find all the other outlets that breaker is running power to. Add up all the watts or amps on this line. stay away from maxing it out too. A*V=W, W/V=A. so a 15amp circuit will handle 1650watts (15*110=1650).

150x2=300, 54x2=108, 40x2=80== 488. 488watts/110volts=4.4amps

4.4amps is nothing. find out what's eating up the power or find a different circuit to use.

Thanks man, according to them i shoulda been fine but im connected with my neighbor and who knows what hes running.
I think im good now i spread out the lights to some other outlets.

Alright ill try i know my neighbor is connected to what i use, Im not sure what he uses but his fan on his ac is on all the time.
