how much would this cost to build?

I stand corrected. Plus they have a few blue diodes in them. Great supplemental light for 3000K COBS tho.
Indeed, it's a good little light, no doubt. abiqua is right in that this could possibly be a good little housing to solder in a 730 nm chip. So good post either way mate

and add one of those flood Gaius just posted and rip the guts out and solder in the 730nm.

How big is the space you want to use?
Expensive project when you could just solder a few of those LEDEngin's or maybe even the Osram's from Steve's? add a heatsink, fan and for probably around $50......
That's what I was wanting to know. Thanks so I can buy the one off ebay and put the far red chip in it. Could you link me to the one I need to buy? My space is a 4x4 area.

You will need to be careful about matching the driver in the flood to the 730 nm chip you intend to swap in. Seems most of the 730's are driven with rather low power.

Forgot to mention I talked to Bill at growlightsource.com today and he said he was looking into a lower cost screw in flood design that would only be water resistant for more of a indoor application.
I'll post updates on any info I get from him in my "Flowering with Cree bulbs" thread
