How Much

Hey all...I have a pruning/trimming question. Quite a few people have said you should prune the bottom part of your plant...I"m just wondering at what point should I start this (I"m about a month into my nutes and another two months total of having the plants.) I"ve heard three inches but my plants are only about 15 inches tall and would think doing this all at once would shock them. Thanks to any and all in advance.

quite a few people also say that any pruning of your plant like that is harmful and counterproductive. The best tip I can give you is to try what you think is best and see if you like the results.

Here are a few pics...good call on that mate...also I will take the "try and see" approach into consideration as well..maybe off of just one.

I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. When you have wild undergrowth that recieves little light you would want to remove it before you switch to flower.

Start trimming now. Just like your lady, you want to keep her trimmed "down there". You want the energy to go to the top of the plant and you want airflow underneath and you want it to be harder for insects to crawl from the dirt to the leaves.

Check the plant in this video for a good guide to what you should trim. Arjan and Franco mention at one point in the video why they trim the lower leaves.

Pipe dream and wanabe thanks for that..just to let you know wanabe this was my thinking behind trimming...if a plant is trimmed then it should focus it's energy on producing buds and not growing back...that's why I wanted to trim..would love to hear your thoughts as to why not to trim.

a lot of growers think that you are reducing the energy to the buds not increasing it. It is the leaves that produce energy for the plant to use to grow big buds. Every leaf you remove reduces the amount of energy the buds get. I am not saying which is correct, just giving the counter argument. I like your idea of doing it to just one this grow and comparing results. I tried it once. The plant that was trimmed on the bottom produced less weed in my case.
