How often and what do you use to clean watering containers/reservoirs?

I use a two gallon pump sprayer to water all the plants in my tent, only distilled water has ever been inside....how often should I sanitize it and what would be the best way to do it? I'm worried about soap residue and tap water residue, I don't want anything contaminating my microlife in my soil.. I assume a little dish soap, rinse that out with tap water really well, let dry, then rinse it out again with purified water?

I wouldn't use soap. Hydrogen peroxide is a lot safer. I feed using a giant rubbermaid tub, and only use hot water and a scrubby sponge when I've made teas in it. Otherwise I just dry it out when I'm done with a couple paper towels. I'm all about my microlife, and so far I'm on month 10 in the same soil. I've heard of people sanitizing their stuff all the time and that would be too much work for me. I expect my microbes to get rid of the bad stuff, and so far so good.

If you're in soil, any residual soap that might be left over isn't going to hurt anything. Adding a drop off dish soap to some foliar sprays is a common tactic to help whatever is being applied spread on the leaves. You're over thinking this. I'm not even that clean with my hydro anymore and I don't have issues. If you have a good herd of bennies they'll take care of any bad pathogens.
