How to arrange various hps lamps

I have 2 1000w hps and 1 600. 1 ballast is dimmable. Im trying to blow out my 12×4 space. I was thinking start with 600w at lowest setting after intial 2 weeks.Then notch up every week. Then a few weeks later switch to 1000w. Then add the 600w back in again lowest setting. I know i got too much light i just want to know should i ever use all 3 in that space?

Each 1000 is good for a 4x4 foot area in flower. So to run all 12 x 4 feet of space you would want 3 x 1000 watters.

The 600 is good for a 3x3 area in flower.

600 is good for 4x4 and 1000 is good for "up to 5x5", could stretch it a bit farther with a good hood maybe. So basically you need all three of your lights right from the beginning if you have a 12' length.

600s def fall off at the 3ft range you'd be unhappy with your edge buds

check out @.Smoke he has a 4x8 maxed out pretty good would leave you room to move

600 is perfectly fine for a 4x4, edge buds will be fine. Especially if you put the 1000's on either end and the 600 in the middle.

I mean 90k lux 4ft away is like 20k, but hell the math doesn't matter right

If it were me...
Exchange the 600 for another 1kW with 3 of these...
3kW can grow a decent amount.

hmmmm... 37.5 watts per sqft of HPS? Maybe in veg. I suppose if you don't mind a 40% yield loss...

And yet I can use a 400W hps and get 1 1/2 lbs dried and cured of good solid bud out of 4 plants in a 4x4.

now imagine how much harvest would arrive @ 1.5g/w if the lamp just would burn 600...?

I use a 600w +10% boost in a 5x5.

The outside buds are respectable imo, certainly better than not having them.

the lights not 4 ft away, its in the middle of that 4 ft and 24 inches above so its like 3 ft away. my edge buds look fine in a 4x4 under a 600w hortilux

Its dependent on your reflector and height too the lights footprint.

I don't know where led sellers got there numbers from, 50watts a square foot of Hps is quite a lot , 40watts is about standard but you can go 30watts and still do well.

I believe that is the real key to lighting, before I started using a parabolic 1gpw was only a target/guide figure now it's an expectation.

Idk what height it's at, what point do I measure to lol.

Edit... 250 mh bulb, try that with horizontal and you'll loose skin!

The heat from a parabolic gets thrown out horizontal so beneath is relatively cool in comparison to a regular horizontal fixture.
