How to mainline and SCRoG at the same time?

I mainline but don't use a scrog, honestly I think it's just redundant and even blocks a little light. If you fill your canopy with bud sites, they really don't need any support until the final week or two. The mainlined buds are quite uniform, fewer budsites and you'll get larger colas (good for pics), more budsites and the colas will be smaller (good if you have issues with budrot). Yield is higher if you go with as many budsites as it takes to fill out your footprint.

scrog is quicker and provides better support in late flower. Just can get annoying at harvest time if you weaved your plants all crazy.

Scrog was always my highest yeilds. But they would get so dam thick and I was thinning like mad. But still got so over crowed I’ve get a bunch of larf under the nice buds. I could pull 18oz out of my 3x3 pretty regularly. But about 3-5oz would be stuff that IMO was not getting enough light. Also known as the “here’s some free weed bro”. Lol.

Here is how I kinda mainline.
- grow to 6+ nodes tall
- top the plant just above the 3rd node
- cut off node 1 branches (great clones BTW)
- now you got 4 main branches making a semetric cross.
- I’ll grow them up to about 4+ nodes
Then top all 4 tops again.
- lollipop the nodes below your topping
- gives you 8 main colas. That I tie down to the edge of the container.
The whole plant grows up like a chandelier or a candle holder.

Plant gets long colas and great air flow and light penetration. Harvest is chopping 8 large branches. Easy

I run a bit of side lighting and I get long colas that are uniform buds from top to bottom.

yeild less weight but what I get is better quality and uniformity for sure.

Doing that in my 3x3 I get 10-14 Oz but it’s 95% ripe and mature bud. Very little “bro weed”

Yeah, I just mainlined for the first time and fell in love with the simplicity. Especially in coco, growth is fast and noticeable daily. Only reason to put a net up at this point is for support in late flower. Had a plant that was floppy with density!

I’m the fucking worst at training, mostly because I tend to neglect it, got branches yoyo’d to the ceiling and shit :dunce: think I’m gonna employ some trellis netting next time:wall:.B3C00DBF-BEBE-4CF7-932C-D0416A0B1E14.jpegC6C10F8B-940D-49B0-88CD-DAF057239160.jpeg

Mainline all the way, I like to grow variety of strains and with that there is very different growth rates and heights. I like to be able to move my plants around and adjust height on each plant to get an even canopy. Scrog is just so constrained

Mine tend to get floppy as well...use a taller tomato cage (or stakes) and there is no more problem. I had to utilize yo-yos in my last grow and those fucking suck to me because I just eliminated the mobility of my plants.
