how to safely lower the PH of water?

I've heard its ok to use white vinegar as well. But you have to add it in small amounts. And it may take some time (over night) for you to see changes in pH.

desertflower is correct you can use lemon juice to lower your ph! you can use as much as you need untill your ph is right if it goes down to far you can use bakeing soda to up it! but if you have the money i would spend the extra 10 bucks and buy some ph down from a hydro store or ebay

If you are growing in soil 7 is fine. Don't fuck with it. I learned the hard way on that. I tried white vinegar to lower it from 7 to 6.5 and woke up to 9 out of ten Hindu Kushes dead.
