How to salvage moldy bud and get a great tasting smoke

only 2 cases ever recorded of death from smoking bud, the couple died of complications after contracting a serious lung disease directly atributed to smoking mouldy bud.
I'm not suggesting smoking moldy bud... I'm suggesting sterilizing it to make it safe to process, rather than throw out....

Ever been inside a food canning facility for human grade food... NOTHING is wasted- always salvaged one way or another

Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis is a progressive debilitating disease with multiple underlying pulmonary diseases, is it worth the risk to your health

You can save moldy bud and make it perfectly safe to smoke/consume/vaporize.

It doesnt matter if the bud is fresh or dried, water curing washes away every trace of mold.

Ive done this a number of times and it works perfectly. Next time I do it, I will take pictures.

Place the moldy bud in a jar and fill with regular tap water until the bud is submerged. You will have to rig some kind of method to keep the bud completely submerged because some of it will want to rise above the surface. SImply putting a lid on it will not work. I usually use a weighted plate to hold it down.

Keep in a cool dark place for 24 hours then take it out and you will see dirty murky water. Pour it all off, then refill with fresh water and stash again for another 24 hours.
I was told to do this every day for 2 weeks, but in my experience the bud is completely clean in less time.

Every day, when you change the water, notice how dirty it is, when you have had several days of pouring off crystal clear water, you are done. Every trace of mold will be gone.

Drain the bud and dry as usual.

The upside is you will have the smoothest, cleanest smoke you have ever had, with all the original potency intact. In fact, some people say it increases that potency, because it takes out plant material but leaves the THC, thus making the thc more concentrated.

The downside is your lovely bud will now look like schwag, but who cares if your using it yourself, you know its not crap!

Water curing will improve any bud, even perfectly good bud, as it takes out a lot of the bad tasting plant material.
Works great in order to save from bud rot.

I'll happily take your garbage off your hands if you feel such is the case. I'll even give ya a few hundred bucks for a pound.. lmao... perhaps counterintuitive, but with a little knowledge.. very doable.
sorry if I missed something but is this an either or ? Or should I take all of these steps. Is decarb and microwave sufficient? Got about 3 bags of outdoor that got some white powdery. Not going to smoke but was hoping to salvage for edibles. Thanks In advance

Im not advocating smoking the white fur but gotta say. I been smoking a lonnnnnng time! And while it may be cool to trash a guy and every swinging dick throw an opinion bc they have a micro grow in the closet I’m curious..and this prob applies to those smoking primarily pre2k. Y’all didn’t smoke mersh? Like for years? Did you turn your nose up at a bag of mexi or were you just happy to be able to catch a buzz (hopefully) on the weekend w the homies? I swear I’ve had to inadvertently smoked more mold than has ever been pictured on this website altogether. About 50 now, feel great. Check up every year. Can still hold my breath under water for longer than most teenagers. I’m god damn certain at least 80% of the weed I smoked DAILY for 20 years of my life had mold on it! If you smoked mersh you smoked mold!!! Certainly love the fact that weed as whole is much better these days but I surely haven’t forgot how it was. Love the advice and input from some but you sure can pick out the ones with tiny peckers and big fingers on here.

kinda old thread but anyways. When i was burping jars today i found small 2-3milimeter spots on about 10 percent of buds. Spots are white and are very hard to spot because they look exactly like crystals. Since then i took buds out of the jar and spread them.
ik moldy weed is bad, but Does it matter when you catch the mold?

Did water cure removed most of it but under microscope you can see where 100 strands where there is still a few.and taste is 0 doesnt smell like weed doesnt taste.you are smoking nothing and you get high. Only plus is you remove soo much weight you get a higher procentage weed in the end

How exactly does that work, or well how did you do it?

I duno how putting mold into 100% humidity would stop the mold growing. Sounds like making a breeding ground for pathogens and mold. Some Bacteria can double it's colony every 20mins. You're putting it into a petrie dish with food (the plant matter) and expecting it to go away? That's like putting a sign out front of your house that says 'free food and clothes' and expecting to get rid of the homeless guy living in a tent in the park down the road.

Not that I disagree, but I will try water cure with bit of a twist from my side (i will add h2o2 to water), I hope i won't have to try it soon, but it's the plan when it happens :S
