How to secure your p.c from snoopy people

I'm sure most of you are already protected from the norm so good for you. This is for those of you who want some peace of mind and security when on the web. The internet police can spy on anyone they want even with net neutrality in place. As it is they already have ip trackers in certain "suspected" sites and the "not so legal site". So be prepared and secure yourself!
This is just some basic stuff to get you on your way. I am in no way encouraging people to go out and start defacing websites or anything like that. This info is for your safety so play nice.

now that you have the resource, lets get started.
First Peer Guardian 2 http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
Use this to block incoming ips and https as well as blocking all of IPv4 TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc.
Second AVG http://free.avg.com/
This is a nifty free virus security prog that does a hell of a job.
Third E-bouncer http://www.softplatz.com/Soft/Security-Privacy/Covert-Surveillance/E-Bouncer.html
This will keep you out of everyone's prying eye by bouncing yout ip around and hiding it making you totally anonymous.
Fourth Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
This web browser is faster than all of them and has awesome features built in or by add-on. Plus the customizations on here make your p.c hard to track.

That should get you going in the right direction toward being totally anonymous while surfing the web.

This is just a beginners guide to getting an idea of whats out there. This is in no way a guideline to start hacking or anything like that. Also you may find some programs to be better than others. This is just to start you off.

Unzip read directions, it's awesome. I haven't used antivirus in over a year. No really, no fecking antivirus. I still use a spam filter and use a spyware/adware application. NOTE: download HOSTS.zip and install it now. Easy as shite.

hosts is good for certain things. but it is very easy to track no a days with simple linux tools. Qhosts can get in as easy as it is for you to install it. the portal that hosts uses is a big open gate for the pc it is on. PG2 along with hosts might be a safer way to go. Viruses are getting smarter and more complex. but good addition none the less.
 
Also if your computer is already infected, don't bother trying to clean it up..

Just save data, format, reinstall, install the protection, then go through your backup data.
 
and just to note... AVG free does a HORRIBLE job protecting you... definitely not worth noting as secure, and you also don't get free real time virus updates...

and it wasn't even a year ago firefox was released with virus leftovers that caused popups on hundreds of thousands of computers.
 
Well no point in installing a bunch of security software without creating a bunch of security holes too! LOL

ive ran into you in a few other threads and i must say . you are quite the negative person. i dont give a flying bird how "popular" you are among the locals of riu, you are just negative and a naysayer. chill with that shit dude. really. if you dont have anything positive to say then vamoose with your bad self. avg is a great tool when paired up with pg2. what do you use?!? post your specs to help others, dont come on here talking trash and not give help. i have a ba in computer tech, have developed software, worked for some upper eschelon companys and am a linux lover to boot so dont tell me that what i post sucks man. your profession is to grow right(as one of your post said). well this is my hobby, MY PROFESSION is computers. this post was for beginners turd. such a negative person. i would appreciate it if you didnt follow my post anymore tec. thanks.

Great information net pirate. I used the cloak for a little while to hide the proxy, it cost money if you wanted to send files. What is the best site to hide your proxy without a charge? Sorry I'm not to keen on the tech lingo.

there are all sorts of ways to hide your proxy. just type in hide my proxy on google and you'll get a bunch of hits. most of them work the same way. try this site.

First off avg is and for the past few years either #1 or in top 5 best anti virus programs out so i have no idea what you mean by "horrible". yes some people have had problems with avg with later versions (as well as myself) but so what, its a computer program that works great. unless you UNKNOWINGLY AND WITHOUT BRAINS clicked on some random ass download with out scanning first then yeah NO anti virus program can deter that. the pc is only as smart as its user bub.

As for firefox, its the fastest top rated browser used. please dont tell me your still on ie ...... not only does ff stop popups by itself, there are an abundant amount of add ons that ff offers to its users. so why would you say its garbage?.......

For the more expierenced users out there wanting better than this i suggest downloading the newly released Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/

from there you can do anything you want. the linux open source tools are very very fun.

also you can use http://thepiratebay.org/ to get anything and make sure you have utorrent installed before hand.

was that a joke..........hmm............... anyway, the GREAT SUPER FANTABULOUS thing about all software is that it all has a back door. if you know the proper precautions in closing that "hole" then YES tech, there IS a point in installing these programs.

For the more expierenced users out there wanting better than this i suggest downloading the newly released Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/

from there you can do anything you want. the linux open source tools are very very fun.

also you can use http://thepiratebay.org/ to get anything and make sure you have utorrent installed before hand.
