How to use pH up and down?

right, but i mean do i adjust my water to 7.0, then water them, then test the ph of the runnoff. if so, how much up/down do i add if its too low/high. i kinda need steps.

1. Measure the ph of your water.
2a. If your water ph is above your designated ph. Use ph down until it is in the acceptable range.
2b. If your water ph is below your designated ph. Use ph up until it is in the desired range.
3. Water your plant with the adjusted water.

pHing your water or nutes will only affect your soils pH on a VERY temporary basis. It does nothing in the long term for soil pH.

You can add dolomite lime to your soil and get the pH in the proper range.

Or, you can play with your pH up and down and test strips or meter.

Your call.

I'm using Fox Farms Ocean Forest should I add it? It has oyster shells in it that it says are for ph.

That oyster shell flour seems to last about 6 weeks and then is depleted. They pretty much add just enough to put on the label, but nowhere enough for an entire grow.

Get the lime and use the lime. 2tbl/gallon of mix, or 1cup/cf of mix. Best if added before use, but you can top dress if the plants are already in their final homes.

~$5 for a 40lb bag at Lowes.
