ok, so i went out today and bought some new lights and also I gotta tell you if you buy a Male betta and wait a couple months before getting him a female the male is like soo harsh towards the Female i thought he was going to kill her, but she is too smeart for that, but i do want to get the bitch prego. I wanna see what the babies would look like. just cuase their colors anyways.. I bought 2 for the price of one lights just for now... their 2 X 100Watt equivilant CFL.. i think they acctually run off 26 each... anywho heres my setup and yah i think its fine till i get my 250 - 400watt sodium bulb... I am gonna try to use this see how it turns out.. and yah the blue light is just to see how it would effect the growth process.. maybe it will change the pigment or something. I know it probialy wont but that be cool if it did.

PS - sorry the pictures are turned sideways

I'm not going to need a flourecent ballast if I am planning on buying HPS/mh combination lights in the near future, Its just a waste of money... In all that i have is 2 CFL lights, and one 2' flourecent blue tube that's 20watts, and the only reason thats there is cause its soo easy to have added in the box. It just fits soo nicely in the corner of the box that i just had to add it.

If that's just tin foil then you should probably get rid of it, I've been told it's not good for the plants. Also the lights should probably be closer.

look at this set up and tell me what you think. the pictures below show my 24 bulb fixture and my profile picture shows a hood that holds 20 bulbs

Dude, you really need to get them CFL's closer, and honestly i doubt the plants even know that blue light is there. And your gonna need a much bigger grow area + more light. Those lights might be enough for about 2-3 weeks till your plants begin to be starved of light, and stretch like hell.

And get that foil out of there, i hear they form hot spots and burn the plants. But i dont know that first hand.

its possible, but if you flatten the foil out theres no chance of a hot spot forming only if its like superly crinkled... that was only a guess... but thats what i beleive was ment by that statement... and i will get the lights closer you think like 3-4 in. is close enough?

that looks crazy... I only wish i could have gotten stuff like that when i was shopping today... I gotta wait about a week to get paid so hopefully by the time i get paid the plants will be rady for some 250 Watt sodium bulbs... I may only use one but who knows.. I may get two.. and I was thinking today about getting a cabnet from CT(Canadian tire). A locking cabnet then have 2 computer fans blowing in one blowing out a tube that ventalates out my bedroom window. i beleve the di mentions are something like this 3-3.5' long X 2' Deep X 5.5-7'(maybe 7 feet tall not sure it was on a shelf and i couldnt really tell exactly how tall it was.)tall but yah and have some lights with a pulley system on the inside, and possibly some mylar, or maybe something else that would work well maybe I'll just paint it glossy white... who knows.

Dude, i doubt you will go out and buy more lights but CFL's are the secind best grow lights next to HID lights. CFL's are better on electricity than your incandescent bulbs, produce atleast 60-70% less heat, and emit wayyyyy more lumes per watts used.

To me incandescent bulbs are next to useless when growing, + heat, +electricity, -lumens:watts

So what im saying is to get CFL's A.S.A.P, or get ready to burry them plants alot deeper than the primary leafs.

GROWFAQ

I would go closer than that and positioning the lights evenly to where they both receive max light, in the link above it shows you how to makes a refector out of pop cans for your cfl's

i think i may get some more CFL's just cause I may try to do the hard wiring thing to save on outlets i need for each CF. but yah i think I'm gonna move the lights even closer now that i know you can have them like an inch away from the top

I only use these now for veg and i put the blue 200 watt in with my 600hps cooltube to increase the thc. effectively doubling my crop.
Using the same space as you and i expect 500grams dry bud per harvest
