Any pics in this thread of dudded plants in flower? I got this thing going on with certain plants where the bottom popcorn and larf shrivel up and look like absolute shit. This is apple fritter. Basically all of the real nug is normal looking but the lower shit gets all fucky. I’ve been tossing any plants that look at me the wrong way in veg and am taking pains to make sure plants aren’t touching/I’m not to cross contaminating things when werkin with em. Not sure what’s going on here C56961C2-F8F7-41BA-9A30-C0AD8BB8DD29.jpeg5CB81ACE-7823-4A7F-936C-9514A0EAF195.jpeg38673511-3E60-425E-8E69-CCE6ADED8B55.jpeg

Looks like russet or broad mites for sure. Broad mites would be the worse of the two and harder to see.

Ah, i been takin a few clones in so I just automatically thought it could be the virus. I’ve been slacking on the ipm sprayin, time to get on it. Ill start blasting them with Athena ipm and stylet oil but I got all that evil shit if need be. Appreciate it, glad it’s not the virus.

It's a circular RNA chain

These things are not easy to break...why do you think this infectious pathogen is problem in the first place @nom de plume420
UV photon will break, heat will break it, bleach...anything that can denature a protein or amino will break this thing...but it's like breaking a dry piece of pasta....brittle but tensile strong. Has to do with hydrogen bonds, which arent as strong as nitrogen bonds...omg im blathering on im sorry this isnt my thread
Edit, yes i have to agree with sunset...lives for months. You may not believe but in ideal conditions it could last millions of yrs actually. Dinosaur dna is a thing

Incorrect. It can last as long as 7 weeks in water. On dry surfaces it has been tested to remain after 24 hours, that’s not to say that after 24 hours it is dead either they only tested up to 24 hours then stopped so it will live for at least 24 hours.
They did not do that research on HLVD but on a different viroid.

Do you have a reliable source for those numbers? Not DHN but an actual research laboratory that has tested these viroids? Because there is an irreconcilable dichotomy between information. And I'm NOT saying you're wrong but in this instance I need verifiable experimentally validated data. Like if it stays alive for 7 weeks in water things like cloning machines and maybe hydroponics and aeroponics are things of the past. Right? Every clone in a machine with an infected clone are at risk and the latency makes it virtually impossible to determine without testing every single one of them. Never had any these problems until the "professionals" got into the business.

I personally know someone who lost their garden from hlv being spread in the aero cloners, the 7 week thing apparently wasn’t hlv as someone else mentioned but it was studied by other viroids apparently, it was mentioned in the last tumi interview. If most other viroids last 7 weeks in water I’m going to assume it’s very possible that hlv also lasts that long. I emailed tumi a couple months ago and she told me it lasts up to a week on water..

Clearly nobody can provide these verifiable studies because they don’t exist. But there is enough evidence in others studies that tested very similar viroids that one can speculate it is very likely that it can live in water for an extended period of time. An open wound is a vector for transmission therefore propagation is absolutely an easy place the viroid can be transmitted via tools, rooting hormone, propagation equipment etc. Knowing this preventative protocols can be implemented. It’s just going to be considerably more work. Just don’t be lazy and this can minimize the risk greatly.

Yeah I'm not sure why this other fella is pushing so hard for cited data/experiments lol, can't we just treat it as if it acts like every other viroid in existence for now?

DarkHeart is not a reliable source? You mean the one lab that actually was able to actually diagnose the disease to start?? You mean the company that has put out a whole study on it and has performed plenty of studies already in controlled settings??

They aren't a reputable agricultural school like Cornell. I'm not looking to argue it's not funny a bunch of greedy fucks in California have destroyed people's businesses from California to Spain. I want to find a way to test my plants and I'm a hobby grower so I don't have hundreds or thousands to plunk down for testing or my plan B is looking for someone to ship me verifiably clean clones. I am way out of my league here and no I don't give a shit about what they have to say. I want people who get paid to research horticultural and Ag issues like Perdue or IU to help me not those who are profiting from the viroid they helped spred. It's infuriating to find out people I mistakenly trusted don't give two shits about the people they are hurting and the operations they ruined. Unless of course you want to pay them. Sorry.

Nevertheless viroid transmission via roots is possible under experimental conditions and may also be realistic under practical conditions when plants are cultivated over long periods (Matsushita, 2013; Mehle et al., 2014).

Further, viroids can persist a certain time in water, in plant residues or even in compost (Kerins et al., 2018; Mehle et al., 2014).

PepMV remains infectious in water at 20 ± 4°C for up to 3 weeks,

ur pissing me off, i don't like you anymore...ur fkn mouthing off as if you know shit but you don't know a fkn thing about this stuff and don't even wanna put the fkn effort in to find out about this.

I watched the dark heart nursery video and I've read everything they put out. I didn't twinkle my nose and the seeds appeared in my hand i did proper due diligence before I bought anything and it's obvious the seeds were infected if two week old branches are snapping off plants for no reason I paid a lot of money for these seeds and they have progressively gotten worse I've been doing thus for 34 years and it pisses me off that people are selling infected genetics. Before all these super growers got into this business the worst I dealt with with was an occasional spidermite
