Hps Bulbs?

I have a 150 watt HPS from HtgSupply and need to get a new bulb. Does the shape matter? If I use a different shaped bulb will it still screw in right and work? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

The only thing that will cause issues is if the bulbs shape interferes with your reflector, just keep that in mind, otherwise there is no reason why any other HPS bulb would not fit.

that fat one is a metal halide make sure you have the correct ballast and wattage
Not always the case, different manfacturers use different glass moulds and shapes to differentiate there product within the market, also made for different purposes, some are made for open reflectors and others for cool tubes etc.

Yes, OP, you can use the left one. its just a broader globe, make sure it wont hit your reflector, i would get the bulbs specs and check its size first before buying.

show me a HPS bulb that looks like that cause I have never seen one

and 95% that you are totally wrong

BUT 5% because I have never really seen one that looks like a MH bulb.

look in the op's post, the new globe he is looking at is wider, im not talking about the internals of the globe im simply stating the shape of the bulb doesnt determine the type of bulb.

Those both look like HPS to me. MH "filaments" are short and wide and generally not round whereas both those bulbs pictured had long thing cylindrical internals.

I just purchased a new Lumatek bulb today and compared to my Hortilux there is a HUGE difference. One is completely straight sided and the Hortilux is wider around than many MH's i've seen.
