Ive got these lamps I bought from amazon that were meant for growing and I found 70 watt hps bulbs.... So I was wondering how well that would work for 6 2ft tall plants.

Only thing your going to grow with 70 watt Hps is a headache from trying to figure why the plants won't grow. 70w will work for flower if you have one for each plant.

yea 70W is`t much

your sure the lamp run it ? I mean make sure the ballast run 70W you cant just choose bulbs as you like need to fit the ballast/lamp (just makeing sure here as it seems you don't have that much experience)

about growing with it, may I suggest one small Auto under each, penetration wont be that much from a 70W

So hps is the power it's equal to?
I have some 6500k CFL bulbs and it says 100w replacement using only 23w

So with 3 bulbs I'd have 300w? Or 300hps? Is that good for my seedlings?

hps means High Pressure Sodium. go on ebay and type in grow lights then you will see all the diffrent types. i'm using a 600watt hps bulb for 6 plants but you could use a lower watt.
also for vegetive growth i've heard metal halide is best then switch to hps for flower but i prefer to stick with hps. you will need a ballast if using hps aswell.
