HPS Veg and Flower

If doing a SOG grow where height is not important, could you use HPS the whole way through? I am under the impression MH is for the plants vertical growth and HPS increase bud size but does not help them grow vertically.

you can use HPS the whole way through but the light isn't the best for veg. You can't put it close to the plant cause it'll burn the shit out of it so to compensate the plant will stretch to reach the light (itll be stringy and kinda ugly haha). MH is better because it emits a blueish light and that's the best spectrum for vegetative growth. HPS lights are that deep yellow glow and that's the best for flowering.

i have an air cooled 600w HPS so heat int too much of an issue. Im also putting my clones under a flouro for the rooting and first week stages. then putting them under HPS for a week before flowering. So only two weeks veg time to keep them short. Maybe Ill add some t-5's to the flower chamber to get some blue light in there.

I would work but woudent be the best lighting. The mh are better but u gotta use what u got. I'm also vegging with hps but I'm about to add daylight cfl for blue spec. Anyone know the growth diff if u only use how instead of mh

I have a Sylavnia Growlux 400w HPS with enhanced blue spectrum
I did all veg under this lamp (is the only one i have) and things are perfect
