Humboldt Seed Company (HSC) Thread

Are they even slow in Veg? All of the seeds I popped have been the slowest growing. Not a lot of vigor. Compared to other strains that just explode
Never had that problem in particular with the Garlic Budder, their veg has been pretty normal for me and in situations where they have a large root area (put into the ground) they've gone monster for me no problem. For example, here's one from 2021:

In-house is a breeder I would put more in the pheno hunt category. A lot of their catalog is F1 crosses of other F1 strains, so you'll see a lot of variance. Usually when people grow seeds from breeders like that, they're running an entire pack looking for exceptional phenotypes to keep, and there's nothing wrong with that necessarily.

The Humboldt overseas was HSO, which I think may have re-started with new US based partners after their operation in Spain got shut down by the police.

HSC has a varying degree of genetic stability depending on the strain. Blueberry Muffin is a an f8, magic melon is a Bx4, but there are some with a bit more variance, the bling and blueberry Cupcake are both S1s for example. I like their terpenes and while I think it took a little bit of growing to get a handle of what the purpose of each strain was, I can understand that they do have a purpose.

As far as my recommendations:

Apple blossom is hands-down my favorite thing I've grown from them so far as a primarily outdoor grower. It was a yielder with big nugs, good potency, fast flowering, an enjoyable well-balanced anytime smoke. Very sweet floral smell, mine was much more towards flowery than fruity. I wish I had saved my pheno because I could stand to grow an acre of it. Sturdy, too, it required no trellising.

Garlic budder was also great for me, it's another in the GMO/chem cookies category. It grew big thick colas with the classic pungent spicy garlicky GMO smell. Very potent and Stony, total indica. Big fat buds, but definitely required trellising, which I think is not uncommon for strains with cookies heritage.

I'm running 6 apple blossom fem photos this summer outdoors near cape cod. Also 2 gsc and 4 lemongrass. All from hsc. I have some squirts I sprouted but after reading about hermie after hermie in thus thread I am not going to put them in the ground.

Good luck! I liked apple blossom a lot and also enjoyed lemongrass, never tried their cookies or squirt before.

You're gonna love the Apple Blossom, it's a big, strong, un-finnicky one with good yields. I like the smell too, despite the name I didn't find it super fruity, more like a flowery, perfumey, honey, nectar kinda smell, the closest fruit would be more like apricot or a peach than apple imo. Flowered decently quickly and I give it some bonus points for being unrelated to cookies
Does the AB hold its terps well?

After being on deaths door a while back, the Blueberry Cupcake is making decent progress and I have yet to see any signs of herming or nanners. Last night she smelled amazing. The smell goes back and forth between blueberry cupcakes/muffins, Blueberry candy, and just plain weed. Hoping this lady starts finishing up in the next few weeks. I have 5 clones that have gotten out of control and are pushing 6 feet tall that I am going to chop in half before putting into flower once this one is done.

My Garlic Budder started dropping Nanners on 2nd week off flower. Smh, I pulled em off and moved the plant to the back of the tent with little light leaks. (My tent is not perfect) gonna keep a close eye.
As for everything else they look great. Got some Irie Genetics and a Mass Medical Strain too

I feel you, my tent is outdoor in a greenhouse, so it's easy enough to flower in during the winter, but during the summer it's hard to use for anything but veg because of how hard it is to prevent light leaks and heat stress.

What's the Mass medical strain? I know they're known for star pupil and a bunch of crosses of it, but I heard of them because of a repro of some reeal Acapulco Gold they did (apparently from Woodstock's seed).

Yup, Humboldt D.Q is green crack x mazar star x skunk. The other dream queen is blue dream x space queen.
4 years ago, I bought an eighth of Dream Queen from a guy, and it had the best weed effects I've ever smoked. Turns out I grew the wrong D.Q this year but it's still a nice smoke. Onto next year with the experience of a full grow under my belt :weed:
growers choice seeds carry that Dream queen space queen x blue dream I am working on my own version we must of bought the same weed from the same guy lol

My Green house rn is going funky, some plants are flowering some are vegging. Heat is hitting past 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer is here!
It’s actually a freebie from MMS. Anaphylaxis, Peanut Butter Breath x Deadly Sativa.
I have two, one outdoor and one indoor. Both are exceeding my expectations! Growing the fastest, right next to the Irie Genetics, Purple Heart (CBD) strain.

Dropped a few more late comers to the grow a few days ago, two Apple blossom, a collie man kush, and a Stoopid fruits:

Here is another Garlic Budder Pheno I got vegging. Very slow growing plant. Compared to others it’s been a very slow growth. Leaves look funky, not sure if the plant just doesn’t like my conditions
It does look like a stress reaction (maybe to pH?) to some extent, I had a similar situation with a Sundae Driver #2 cut on the lower leaves:

Nice! Awesome pics, I got a spare rock wool cube that’s soaked, might as well drop another seed.
Thanks for the inspo.
I have thought that, might be a Ph issue… weird I do Ph (6.2-6.8 ) and majority of the plants seem to like the conditions and water I have. The second Garlic Budder does look a bit funny too, maybe it’s just the genetic line from those seeds that just prefers variables that I just can’t seem to get.
