ok so i have 3 palnts that are about 3-4 weeks old and are pretty healthy, strains are OG kush, Lavender, and AK47... now to my question ... my temp gage reads a constant 25-31% humidity i cant get it any higher, then again i have alot of fresh air circulating, since they are being grown in my closet..is this ok for the veg state?, or to be safe should i get a humidifier and try and get it a lil more humid? ... any answers get +rep thanks guys !!!

Alright guys, I used to be in the same position as you.

What helped was spraying water around the room, it made the air more humid. I also hung up a towel near the plants and poured hot water (from the tap) on it.

However, things really got better, from 20-30% up til over 50-60% when I bought a humidifier. They really help, trust me.

yah, i have a small closet grow as well, and had the same issues... i went to walmart and got one of the vicks humidifiers that i think ran about thirty bucks or so.. plugged that sucker in and my rh is now about 70% or so.. gotta refill the resovior daily as it really sucks up some water, but other than that, it works great.. i've tried all the cheap ways to raise the rh as well.. buckets of open water, towels, etc., and nothing compares to a good humidifier imo.. the air around here at this time of the year is only like 17% rh without my humidifier, so it makes a huge difference..

if you add humidity you need to do it at the air intake point otherwise your just humidifiing the exhuast

i never have rh issues but you can try folair spraying every night with ph'ed water i have 6x6 chamber for flower and veg with 2 18' fans and a 8" can fan pulling air through my vented hood and then through a carbon canister filter, with 600 watt lights lights on rh sits at 58% lights off 70%, honestly we need better details of your grow to really give you more difinative anwser

size of grow area
light wattage
height of lights
watering schedule
type of grow media
is the grow area sealed

if your moving a lot of air during veg then you are evaporating water at a higher rate then if it were less, try less circulation venting is not need at a constant rate only every few hours unless temp or humidity is high

give more details and i will see if i can help more

what about having a fishtank outside the door? IF properly aerated that's a lot of circulating water which actually throws it all over. You can get by with the levels you're at just depends on strain, and other circumstances as to how your plant will take to it. Although for aggressive veg i believe it is optimal to be about 70, you don't wan't too much condensation build up in your walls this causes mildew and mold, also dry rot. 50 -60 is fine I've gotten by with 40 althrough out veg. Good luck too all also don't hang that towell that will atract mold.

ok drifter heres my details ....

size of grow area = 2 feet deep by 5 feet long and 9 feet tall
light wattage = 1 400 watt HPS system
light height = about 2 - 2 1/2 feet from plant
water schedule = every 2-3 days dependeing what my meter says
dont know what you mean by grow media, but if its what im thinking they are in a 3 gallon pot of soil(fox farms)
grow area is sealed half the time and half open for more curculation

will that help?!?!?

Its better to have a higher humidity in ur grow room but as long as the temp is good the humidity is fine wherew it is. But if u wanted to addd more humidity to ur grow room then an easy way to do it would be just to get a container and fill it wid water and just sitt it in your grow room till it evaperates and keep repeatin da process to maintain the humidity

Well since you are growing in a closet try this. The open bucket of water with a twist. Add a small airpump and a few airstones to that bucket. It does work. But if you are moving lots of air from the grow area thru your lungroom then notta. Need a humidifier. And if you do get a humidifier, do not put it right in the closet. I am assuming you are growing in a bedroom closet? If so, put it in the bedroom itself and raise the humidity of the lungroom.

im trying the bucket thing and if all else fails im just going to get a cheap humidifier .... and im pretty sure for flowering the humidity needs to be lower than the veg state....

You could also take a cooler and mount some small pc fans in the side of the cooler, fill the cooler with water and close the lid and let the fans pull the evaperated water towards you plants. Or just do it the rigged way and sit a bucket in the grow room with a fan on it. If you can afford it though you should get a humidifier to bring you humidity to at least 50-60% and in the last two weeks of flowering bring the humidity down to 30% or lower.

i actually found a humidifier ( an old one) in my garage, and it works like a charm, i took my current humidity from 25% all the way up to between 40 and 50 percent, been using it for the last few days and its working great, sucks up about a gallon of water a day, but it helps my plants so who cares
