Hydro? First grow?

I've been told that when growing cannabis, the first grow is shitty.

Is this true, and if so, does it apply to hydro?

And is hydro supposed to be better because it gets more oxygen from the water?

I'm aware that, compared to soil, hydro gets the entire process done much faster and often more efficient.

About two months I hear.

Does the hydro method give some superior qualities to the pot, besides how quickly it grows?

I've seen some very, very tasty looking harvests from aerogardens on this site.

I'm more interested in the thought of pioneering the practice of using a common gardening appliance for growing pot, than the thought of starting with the basics.

Organic Soil actually gives you a better tasting end product than anything. Hydroponics allows you to cut up to 2/3 the veg time out of the equation.

My personal setup requires about 65-70 days from clone to harvest, 2 weeks to veg is all I need to end up with 3'+ plants. Soil can't touch that,usually need at least 6 weeks of veg or more to get 3 foot plants.

Hydro growers have more control over their product, but pay dearly for mistakes. Soil grows buffer noobie mistakes, hydro mistakes kills plants fast.

Quoted for truth. If you have the cash and are willing put in the extra work, hydro is the way to go. Just understand that soil is much easier and cheaper, although slower. It's probably a given that you're going to make mistakes during your first hydro grow.

I've grown plenty of nice weed both ways.

Hydro cuts down the veg time ... especially an aero grow.

Organic nutrients are available for hydro growing as well as for soil.

The flowering times are strain related and not speeded up using hydro.

Hydro takes all the guess-work out of nutrient application and watering.

With hydro, there is no soil to get rid of after harvest. No soil mixing either.

What is beneficial about using "organic" nutes?

What about foxfarm? Heard it produced great taste if you use some trio pack.

I started out hydro, simple ebb + flo but lost my entire crop 6 weeks in to water born pathogens. Really sucks.
I highly suggest starting out in soil, my mistake was I didnt fully understand the temprement of the plants, and took all the advice i could from forums, which ultimatley led to more mistakes.
If anything, do a few plants in soil as a control, compare between the two, and if you make mistakes on the hydro, not all is lost.
But it doesnt just apply to weed, if you have a thorough knowledge of plant biology then go for it hydro!

Okay, so it would be wise to run some tests first.

Like most, if I were ever to contemplate growing cannabis I'd use bagseed and just figure shit out over time.

Seems to be the best way... learn by mistake.
