Ok, im special in this topic. From what ive read can i just hook a fish tank aerator to a tube with multiple holes in a bucket of some kind (rubbermaid), filled with water, keep the water aerated and ready set go? Is it that simple? And like what could i use for a hydro solution, like could i just use fish emulsion and how would i figure out how much to put in and how often?

like this exept for all the fancy exterior nonsense.

Basically, yes, it's just a solution with the plant floating/suspended in the solution. You must push a lot of air and ideally you'll have an airstone under each plant. Take the gallon rating of the airpump, divide by ten and that's about how big of a pump you want (a pump rated for a 40 gallon aquarium would be good for 4 gallons of solution). You want to use fertilizers intended for hydroponics.

With a DWC just keep topping off the solution. Keep in mind that with the large container shown you'll either need to keep that large resevior filled up or use a pump to drip water on the suspended roots. You must keep those top roots moist.

Here's my recommendation for air pumps, they are the quietest on the market:

you also have to monitor your ph and keep it no higher than 5.9 and no lower than 5.2

You need hydroponic nutes for a hydro system.

All that fancy nonsense on the outside of those is to tell the water level. no too fancy just scientific lol

try using RO water and BC GROW, BOOST AND BLOOM for your nutes....

using RO will keep your PH neutral and i personally like the BC products for my nutes.

nice engineering BTW :)

oh yeah, and if you have the room, a childs plastic wading pool on a table works well for a decent sized garden.

I run my pH at 6.5 with now problems. Consulting charts that show nutrient salt avaliability at various pH levels will show that this is about optimal. This is important for phosophorus (fundemantal for flowering); notice the difference in phosphorus avaliability between pH 6.5 and 5.5. This applies for for soil and soiless.

That is for soil we are talking hydroponics here is a link to the grow faq page that tells you to aim for 5.5 to 5.7

how bout you post some pics on the site so we can all see what you do. You seem to tell everyone how great you are and how your been doing this for years and years yet you haven't ever posted a single pic on the site or anything like that. I dunno man

Alright alright, so i need to keep a close eye on ph, i need to make sure all the roots are submerged, and a pump, idealy, per plant. So im thinking about trying this with a gatorade jug, reall mini, and for one plant, partly out of curiosity of the differences in soil, and partly because i want to go for a quicker yeild and a bigger yeild. Once i get clones going ill have clear results coming in to see what hydro is all about.

So you NEED hydro nutes?

REef- damn dude that would be bangin, a fucking kittie pool, hopefully some day!!!
