I can't get high, is this why?

I've been taking this medication in conjunction with Trileptal for close to a month now, and ever since I just can't seem to get high. It's strange because it seems I'm able to get somewhat of a body high, but anything cerebral is just out of the question now..:/ At my next psych visit I'll probably end up getting prescribed some sort of other medication used to treat schizophrenia. Do these types of medications generally affect the high from cannabis negatively? If so, how can I get around it..I suppose strains with higher CBD content would be my only option. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any help

Neuroleptics and weed can be a bad, bad mix.

But if you can find a CBD-dominant variety, that might be less bad and actually more good. Not enough work has been done.

But I would actively avoid the high-THC strains. They interfere with the workings of neuroleptics. cn

What is so bad about the mix?

You shouldn't mix supplements that affect chemicals in your brain with prescription medication that also effects chemicals in your brain. An example would be taking 5-HTP while taking an SSRI.

You're taking a dopamine regulator while trying to take something that increases dopamine release.

So you're telling me I'm going to have to choose between marijuana and the medication? Should I stop smoking temporarily until the new prescription? I'm trying to gauge the seriousness of my situation.

Marijuana isn't a drug, but it has been linked to schizophrenia in those who use it a lot. Mainly if it's hereditary. It also speeds up the process of schizophrenia, meaning you can get to more serious stages of it faster than you normally would.

Dude, you're taking two medications AND smoking weed? You should research any medication you take heavily before you take it. Doctor's are human beings and A LOT of them have been wrong. My doctor told me there wouldn't be a problem mixing Xanax and 5-HTP. The funny thing is, even the lady answering phones knew not to mix those two.

I had a minor anxiety issue that stemmed from something minor but at the time I didn't know so he gave me a two-week trial of Xanax (Alprolazam). When I smoked and took those, I would have basically have no recollection of what happened when I was awake and I would sleep all the time.

Of course mariyuana is a drug. Typo to frustrate the tagbot. cn

Well, I guess it's a drug. I just don't think of it like that because it's natural. When I think of drug, I think meth, cocaine, prescription meds, MDMA, DMT, etc.

I get that. But DMT, opium etc. are natural as well. I prefer the functional definition favored by pros.

It's a bit akin to the drive to use "chemical" as a bad word. I had a sour laugh when i saw a box of foodstuff proudly labeled "contains NO chemicals!!" Du'ude, it's all chemicals. cn

That's pretty much what I'm going through. Of-course I research the drugs..but getting other opinions is never a bad thing.

I did this for a couple of days, it was.. Whacky. I felt like I had taken a half hit of acid. All the time. Thank god I stopped taking those prozacs shortly after being prescribed, they fucked with my head.. Robolife

Drug: A substance that has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body, in particular.

Your mother took my drug last night.

the medication is probably why you're not getting high. if you got high normally up until you started the medication, it's a dead giveaway. then just research the drugs and since there are enough bud smokers, the answer is probably already out there.
