man my internet has been cut off :S basterds lol

been a while since ive been on here this post seems to be getting quite a bit of attention now

i think the easiest way to lower the temps was the thing i said cause it would be free to do and i know i said i would draw up a pic but i havent mnaged to do it yet

* right cut a square out of the back of your cab closer to the top end

* get some sort of black or dark blue material and pin / glue this over the newly made hole (something that is breathable like a bed sheet or old tshirt)

* there you have a good vetelation with no light escaping

* if you want to sort out the inside get an old white tshirt or sheet and cut it to the size of the hole in the back of your cab and pin / glue over the dark sheet

is that easier to understand ?

dont wory about noise from drilling just wait till night time when your lights are off and just go to town on it with a sharp knife
just some fans might be quiet but the noise is due to vibration so if you do get one look at getting some rubber washers too this should stop vibration

My internet was tripping all day yesterday too! I think I get your drift about the square. You sure it'll breathe? lol I started my seeds and they are starting off pretty good under the CFL's. Nice and green! I lost one of the George Dub'ya Bush's (some bush ass bag seed I accumulated) but no worries. The Blueberry and the Mike Myers (some bomb as bag seed) are doing okay. Hopefull they are both females and I could possible get a couple clones off both. maybe I'll start a journal real soon.

you doing from seed so you gots your lights on 12/12 now to find out the sex

i usualy start all seeds straight under 12/12

a lill faster for finding the sex and then whack them under 24 or 18 depending on how much you love electricity i would go 24 with cfl

good luck btw sorry for your loss lol

I lost one of the George Dub'ya Bush's
also if you direct the fan so it blows against the hole you cut should in theory push the air out and pull new air in or if you wanted mount the fan next to the whole to pull in fresh air and that should push out the used air

id say get more air in there that fan u got hangin put in as a intake from the bottom of the cab cuz cold air stays low to the ground hot air raises so make ur exhaust at the top and intake at the bottom and i would say to put them on the same side if the ca lets say ur face the cab put them on the left side so nice cool air stays in there long enough to cool it of u kno

There is a brand available from walmart (on the net, don't know about in stores) called either Black-Cat, or Black-Magic cut your own filter pad, IIRC that you can get up to 2' squared IIRC

htggrowsupply

they have this stuff called ona (sp?), its a liquid that removes id say 60% of the odor

they ship overnight, look at their vent systems to.

Alright so I have decided to get 2 S&P fans. One 6" S&P for the Cool Tube and one 4" S&P for the scrubber/exhaust. Will probably start off with the 4" S&P for now to get this odor under control. Doing this will free up 2 PC Fans.

Should I drill an additional hole at the bottom and use both PC Fans as my intake? or should I leave the one hole un-fan'd?

You probably dont need to fan it, the 4" exhaust going out should pull enough air through the bottom hole without a fan, might not hurt to put another hole in the bottom though

have you considered (and I'mnot sure if you rent or own) Taking off one of the doors and put a piece of plywood there in stead. Then replace the other door with something more solid. Add an active and passive exchange from the closet space to the room. RIght now those louvers IMO don't exhange and allow the air to mix quickly. Having some form of active exchange system might help too. That slow exchange right now I think is a bottle neck in your net temp.

I planned on drilling a second hole at the bottom of the cab and exhausting the heat with the odor. Sucking warm air through a carbon scrubber seems to be the route I am going. In an apartment and would like for everything to be inside the box kinda like those tents. I have been thinking of more stealthier ways to design my cab as the days past. I think my second go round will be much better.

This is all true but once you've exhausted the heat out of the cab where does it go...i have and even larger closet area and a little larger of a cab and was having a similar problem. The air inside the closet is still HOT air and is building up quickly with moving it all so in and out of the cab so fast its just making it hotter every time its being recirculated and no new cooler air is being introduced...im still kinda tweaking with it but im finding that if you can get a bunch of ice cubes in a bowl and get your intake to be directly over the bowl of iced water then it can keep it cold for quite some time. I have to fine tune it but that along with a humidifier are working quite well if youd like to see just let me know.

Since heat rises, I figured that the heat would seep out those vents in the top half of the closet doors. I usually leave the closet door open and the window cracked to the room and it is kept pretty cool. The thing I seem to be focused on now is the fan's timer. Should the fan exchange air on a timer every few minutes during the dark period and constantly running during lighting? Or should it be left of 24/7?

Or I could flange the top of the cab and duct straight out the vents in the closet door. Just would have to hang the ducting somehow. maybe even use some 2 sided tape and stick a flange on the inside of the closet door and duct from flange to flange.

:leaf:I'm a hobbiest, so I plan on trying a shit load of different techniques and all your ideas are welcome.

Thanks again!
