I did a bad thing...I don’t regret this thing I’ve done

It’s a learning curve going from HID to these scorpions. On my 2nd run with one now, I run my rspec at 24” and 450ish watts and still have some phenos hating it. Oddly though, I have a Liberty haze pheno that under cmh makes tiny but some of the most frosty and stinky nugs I’ve ever had the pleasure of smoking. Now under LED they are much bigger but the quality isn’t there. My first run had giant colas but it was not up to snuff and all destined for the bubble bags.
Interesting what do you think is lacking in the led for that strain?
IR? The uv from the CMH?

Million dollar question brother. I think I light stressed them when they stretched into the light. I’m also getting way more stretch with LED even though my temps are way more stable between lights on and off with led. I have 7 in the box this run. 3 look good/great, other 4 are way way behind but still nothing like I saw in cmh. I do believe it’s operator error though, my next run I’ve got some Ethos cuts so I’ll toss the 630 cmh in for that one to build up reserves then try the scorpion again. I just started a little flower run in 4x4 with a 315 cmh to make sure I don’t run out too. Mabye I just really had that cmh dialed in and got spoiled because I seem to be the most critical of everyone who smokes it. I just turned on the LED bar at about day 48.

Took me a few hours to learn about LED. If I up the watts I make sure to check them EVERY hour while the lights are on. Soon as I see any dark spots or leaf curl I turn them back down again. Once you get it right for certain strains you will not have to do it again :eyesmoke:

Been running an old 250w Philips 4000k with COBs and Boards for a year and it seems to just liven things up and helps keep container mix warmer and everything seems frostier and more gooey. Precisely thinking of UV when put it in.

It was a steep learning curve for me. I had a cheap HydroFarm lux meter and I still burned them. A lot easier to manage with my new PAR metre.
I imagine after a run or two the apogee will just collect dust.

Hmm you could have had it dialed in with the CMH for sure.
Could be the added uva/uvb it has or the IR the bulb puts out as it’s powering down helped more than we know?

I bought HLG uva boosters so I’ve got that added spectrum,
And I’ve got a rapid led far red booster(only one need 4 for better coverage)
I’ve noticed faster growth Compared to my MH even after light stressing them.

I have no meters at all. Just a tape measure to see how high above the canopy. That's why I baby them like a vigilante after turning up the watts. I know how fast things can go bad by learning the hard way. The first time I used my 550 Bspec at full blast I fucked up badly :eyesmoke:

I think the full spectrum of cmh has something to do with it. I never got massive gpw yields but the quality was top notch. Tbh I just cut the tops to trim and bubble bag the rest. I never pushed them too hard, usually topping off at 1.4ec or so. They just seemed happy under cmh, rarely had to pull dying leaves except the last week if at all. Then I heard these 2 -3 pound a light stories and said fuck I gotta try this. I’m not ready to give up on led but I’m running out of that juicy cmh bud.
