I am growing for the first real time. I don't know what kind of seed I have, my husband just sprouted it in paper towels and said here do something with this, so I was like OK, I'll try. Do I put it in mushroom compost mixed with vermiculite. Added a few coffee grounds and some Epsom salt stuck a grow light on it and put it the closet after I cleaned it out. It's about 6 weeks old and only about 7 in tall. It has 7 nodes. You can't tell if it's male or female yet. I don't even know if I'm doing this right. It looks really healthy. Any advice???

What kind of light? How many watts? How many hours of light does it get per day?

Post pics. Tell us what your setup consists of.
What do you plan to feed, soils all the info you can.

Then people will be better able to make recommendations based on your situation and limitations.

Or I suggest you shove it in a big pot of great soil in a climate suitable for cannabis under a 1000w light.

But, that might not fit your needs

Good luck

Idk, I just got a led red and blue light and a regular halogen light. It's just one plant so that should be good I guess. It seems happy. It's on 18/6

I did only have the red and blue LED light but I just added the halogen cause I remembered that it was growing so fast in the window but as it went from seedling to veg I put it in the closet. So I guess the sun was making it shoot up and then when I put it in the closet, no more sun. So i added the halogen.

Looks like lack of light, you may want to try 100-200w of light for each plant.

also, if those are incandescent bulbs (the oldschool type) then you may want to get rid of them as they bearly provide the par output of led/hid.

It's some kind of halogen light, I can't read the numbers on it I think it says 1200 something lol. I said idk what he'll I'm doing. Since I added the halogen it seems like plenty of light now. It probably was lack of light cause I did only have the red and blue LED

I think you misunderstood me, incandescent & hologen mogul bulbs won't work right for growing indoor.

Cannabis is kind of a light hog, you need atleast something like 100w of led or 200w of cfl.

Since cannabis can take 3-6 weeks in veg to show sex, it's wise to keep up with its light demand untill atleast maturity otherwise the plant will start to stretch & outgrow the light before its even mature enough to flower.

These are the bulbs i use with small grows, they seem to work great. Ill put a pic up for you

Heres a plant that grew under a mix of those bulbs above and a few extra cfls, 200 watts total.

The title of your post says your in the right place.....LOL

First off, Mushroom compost is salty. Avoid it.....
You used it, Up pot to bigger pots and use a real soil.
Watch for salt build ups.

Wow that's gorgeous!!! This is why I wanted to try. It's an art, and very artistic. I think I could really grow some good buds one I've done it a few times. My daddy used to grow when I was young. I remember him telling us to stay away from the ditch, the skunk family would get us if went out there! When I got older I realized what the skunk family was and always wanted to see if I could surpass the master. He was an outside grower tho. So this is so different than just sticking them in the ground and giving some fertilizer.

This is why it's so confusing. One person says it's good soil, the next says terrible, then a different site will say something completely different. I've read A LOT that says it's great soil but I guess the only way I will know it's trial and error. I need to get one of those stick things that reads the pH the dirt. I mean it started out beautiful. Grew super fast. But my husband wanted me to get it out of the window. I can't blame him so I cleaned out the closet and bought a grow light, the damn thing was not as big as I thought, and I don't have the money to buy some extravagant light set up. I do have another red and blue light coming in the mail. Who knows how long that's gonna take.

Just buy a few CFL's or LED's. The kind you use for normal household lighting. They will work if you provide enough wattage. Do as the above post suggest. 100Watts of LED or 200Watts of CFL. I'm talking of Actual wattage, not their equavilant. Put them in a bigger pot with some decent potting soil. Stay far far away from Miracle Gro potting soil, it will kill a cannabis plant. Next you will need to feed it. A little friendly advice, A new advertiser here is givng away samples of their fertilizer free, all you pay is a few bucks for shipping. It's called Mega Crop and it's designed for cannabis plants. I am using it as well s others on this board and it's working wonders for our plants. Next you may have to do a little reading. Below i will include a link to Free pot books you can download and read at your convience. Do all this and you will have some happy 'girls ' hopefully. bongsmilie
