I give up, this is not for me...

I've read that people thing dwc plants just taste like straight chemical without flushing. I'd hate to have that.
this is probably from growers that push the nutes hard ie max out the nutes added and more in an effort to get the plant to produce more. this gives you a plant full of nutes at harvest.
less is more with nutes, the plants will grow quite hapily if they have good light and good growing enviroment. they dont need the extra nutes being given to them

Thanks but that must be a list for iPhone apps. As Photone doesn't have an Android app. And from what I've read, it's because the light sensors found on Android phones differ greatly from the sensors on iPhones and developers are struggling to find other ways (like using the cameras instead) to try and still get within acceptable ballparks of lux.
I was also hoping my android luxmeter app was accurate, but after seeing this article is highly unlikely.

I want to start saying thanks to those who tried helping me, but I have a K deficient thumb and realize I will never be able to grow any plant in my life.

Today I'm chopping down my 420fastbuds autoflower. Growth has been stunted for a week now. I made a bunch of mistakes my first grow and corrected nearly all my mistakes with this second grow, but somehow it ended up... worse.

My first grow produced buds, but the autoflower giant (Big Bertha I called her) ended up 5' tall getting scorched by my 315 LEC. She may have also been over fed (full Lucas formula 0-8-16) since she was drinking so much from the intense light. I got A LOT of extracts off her to supply me for a long time so at least it wasn't a complete waste.

This second grow I ended up end gradually raising the nutrients to full lucas of 0-5-10 which she is at right now at ~600ppm being full week 5 today. Also bought a fancy HTG LED light to help me control light intensity and gives me more head room in case she turns into another giant. I also have a fancy ph meter along with a cheap one calibrated with all the nice calibration liquids. She has been sitting at 5.9 the whole time. Temperature has been 72-74 during the day and 68 at night. 40% humidity and the root appear to look great besides the discoloring that GH nutrients do to the roots.

Everyone says "ph issues" but sadly that is far from what is wrong. Being an analytical person, when I dial in the specifications needed to grow in DWC and things go south, I just have to give up. There is nothing else I can do, lucas formula works for people so I know its not that, GH nutrients work for people, so I know its not that. My only option would be to do something that is out of specifications which wouldn't make much sense.

Maybe I live in an area which a strong magnetic field, or maybe prone to solar flares. or maybe the stars awkwardly align in a way that makes plants unable to grow (which would explain all my grass and trees in my yard. Used RO water with calmag the whole time, so I know its not my water supply.

Sorry for the rant, mainly just here to say thanks, and that this community seems alright, it's just not for me. Pictures are before being chopped (Day 33). They looked like this for a week with no change even though they are drinking about a quarter gallon and the ppms drop maybe 30ppm a day. Looking at Growdiaries, even soil grow of this same strain had flowers at this point.

Anyone want a HTG LED light or a LEC? I'll give them away cheap (at least pay more than it cost to ship them).
Bro, dont give up! weve all been there, if growing cannbiss was easy it would be boreing to grow, all i can say is keep your grow lights and live to grow another daybongsmilie

Seems to work pretty good imo, but I'm not an expert so you'll have to try for yourself.
I've tried a few, thing is I don't have any way of knowing how accurate they are. Every review comparison of them I've found seems to be using iPhone versions of the apps compared to light meters to get a sense of accuracy. I mean I think I've gotten some 'good enough' baselines at this point but I really don't have any way of knowing really. Am more curious than anything.

Me too. I really want a meter but I'm to busy spending on other equipment and a buncha bas products. I was kinda hoping someone here with a meter would test the app I posted against a meter. Lol

Look... stay between 5-10% water by volume of soil. Unless you're using bottled nutes, then water to 20% runoff. Get a garden sprayer and some yucca extract. Growing in soil is easier than you think.
With organic bottle nutes, i think theres no need to water till run-off. I also water 5-10% pot volume and that works great for me. Some ppl and companies say water 20-30% pot volume but i think thats rly bad... soil becomes too compact and easy to overwater...

I think it depends on the bottled nutes. I believe there's only one true organic bottled nute and that's fox farms bloom. Ime, salt build up will still occur without runoff.

i use the entire biobizz bottle nute line and afaik is 100% organic
I use there allmix there bloom and veg thats all tho i do give them a little bit of other organic amendments and a bit of blackstrap molasses i really dont think theres a better bottled nutrient line for taste thats for sure its decent stuff i wouldnt follow there chart tho but then again i wouldnt use any nutrient company's charts and recommendations they all tend to be off in my experience

I agree. The best tasting buds are always organic..

I roughly follow their schedule but everything at 1/4 recommended strength. IMO the recommended is actually the maximum amount.

I just want to say wow this community is great yall are some amazing kind people.

And man it's a learning process you will get there if you want it. It's not rocket science it's barely even a science, I know guys who measure nothing but Ph they just throw a soil or nutrient combination they've been perfecting for years and it works for them. Not all strains are created equal either again if you want it you will get there, it's not supposed to be easy but it's not supposed to be stressful for most of us this is the hobby we choose for life others it is our lives and we were all and some still in your shoes.
I highly recommend Coco perlite mix if you're finding yourself running into drainage issues but honestly between work and my personal grows I just find it to be an annoying extra step that requires more water and never use perlite.

It's not hard but it's a learning process make it fun and low stress maybe start with seeds you don't have to spend money on my buds and I always dial in our new systems with bag seeds just because at 10+ years of growing they still make mistakes and run into issues.

I'm in the process of my very own first run like just me without any other hands involved(so I can better learn) and it's been fun and low stress because I don't let it stress me out.
You'll get there fam don't give up and happy growing.

Those still have like 3 weeks to go. No need to starve them, continue with your feeds.
Week 13, she looks tasty. I can wait longer, but I might still pick some off tonight to dry n' try. Sorry for the lower quality images.
This strain by 420Slowbuds says it will have a mix of white and orange hairs at harvest. Finally seeing plenty of brown hairs now.

For anyone reading:

Anyone know why DWC takes longer than soil for autos (heard soil can take 2 months from seed)?
Does anyone know the GH Flora trio formula that gets you closest to Jacks 321?
