I have been thinking of trying SoG...

So yeah.. I have been doing the same thing for years now, and i see alot of promise in a massive SoG grow.. im just wondering, because i have the following extras

1x400w HPS
1x600w HPS

cooling is taken care of

15 Clones - Purple Trainwreck
15 Clones - Green Crack
15 Clones - Tabotalyn (My baby.. hehe)

i know this isnt MASSIVE, but its alot.. i have been doing alot of reading.. im planning to veg for about 7 -10 days, then throw them under the light. I will be growing in soil (that is all my budget will allow for right now, as i do not have, and cannot afford a PH meter).. I would grow in rockwool and pellets, but i only have a liquid ph test kit.. i do have ph up and down, though..

my problem is, i need to go with something cheeeeaaaapppp as containers.. i mean, these things shouldnt get too big with that short of a veg time.. any ideas? what would be an appropriate size? half gallon? some sort of grow bag?

and i do have pellets, rockwool, ph up/down, and a liquid test kit.. Anyone know how to use one of the liquid kits accurately for a hydro setup? Im using FoxFarm Nutes, as that is all i have right now..

like i said, this i just something i want to try, but i want to make sure i get some good results.. im sure the strains and my thumb will do most of the work, but the dilemma is simply, hydro or dirt, with the stuff i have, and what size containers?

thanks!

my local grow shop has 5liter square pots for $1.25 each that would be ideal for something like that, imo. Do you have a local indoor grow shop you can visit?

doing some more looking right now, with a 7 day veg time, there were quite a few people growing in small 20 oz containers, and having very very nice results.. i think this may be the way to go.. lol

oh yeah.. the best in the area.. lol.. cause i have room for allloooottt of them, but these green crack babies are super rock solid nugs, and low growers.. at least the ones i got.. i figure they would be perfect for sog... i even have 2 more mamas, and i may just switch my whole setup to this.. haha.. well, depending on the outcome.. looking at others grows, the amount of time, and the weight that they got, im almost convinced...

these 5L pots are 7" square. Just the right size, imo. Plenty of room for the roots to grow, wide enough for the leaves to grow, yet narrow enough that you can cram a lot of them under a light. 16 in a 28"x28" area, 25 in a 36"x36"..

the main reason im wondering, is because i have alot of clones, so i dont need to really veg the shit out of them, but i also cannot afford over 1 buck per container, for 45 containers.. budget is tight right now..

that still seems big for such small plants, when there are these other cats doing them in pots a fraction of the size..

like this one

i have found a few more like this, as well.. i mean, the veg time will be almost non-existent. hahahaha
that cola would be bigger if it was a bigger pot. I just experimented with this with some bag seed in a quick small grow. Just cut a cola that was bigger than that one. It weighs 70G wet and is rock solid, and I harvested that one early just to check it out, a few others are still going, probably 2-3 more weeks. And there is at least that much weight on the lower portion of the plant still growing, I only cut the cola. the trichomes have just started turning milky, 75% of the hairs are still healthy white. The plants were put into flower at 9 days from seed...

I've seen others with small grows like that also, but they don't look nearly as healthy as the plants I did in a bigger pot. And look how wide the leaves are, you have to have some space between the stalks for air to flow, 7 inches stem to stem is not much room. This is just my opinion though, you can try whatever you want and see how it goes.

yeah.. i have made my decision.. 50-60 clones, all at once, no veg time.. with the stretch i have seen on the green crack, i should be good.. cant wait to get this started
