I need advice on ventilation in room

4 x 4 grow room, 1 vortex 6 inch inline 1 vortex 6 in outtake and running 200 watt that will slowly be increased to 300-400-500-750-1000 over time but my question is please can people give input in regards to fan usage? Even in slowest mode they deliver a fast movement of air flow so I have them on for 1 hour off for like 3 and then off for 5 of the 6 hours they are “sleeping”.. they’re only 1 week - 1.5 week old as well and I’m wondering is this a bad air flow timing to do 1 on 3 off type of thing , should I just run them 1 hour on 1 hour off? Is it bad to do to heavy of air exchange?

Run them 24/7. Air exchange is good! And you only need an exhaust fan. The intake fan is redundant. The air being exhausted by the exhaust fan will draw in fresh air, you are just wasting power and causing odor leaks with an intake fan.

Yeah a passive air intake is fine for a 4x4.

Intake fan brings in fresh air and exhaust sucks it out though? @Kerovan

What is passive air intake lol

Remove your intake fan and just put a vacuum hose or some plain ducting painted black (on inside) for light leak. Passive intake is as the name suggests. Passive. The intake fan will pull air into tent

Passive means the exhaust fan pulls air in with no fan on the intake. This might not work well with the heat you add later on.

The exhaust fan does both jobs. It exhausts the air from the tent and the resulting negative pressure draws fresh air in. You never want to use an intake fan.

Correction for above:

You never want positive pressure. Exhaust should be more powerful than intake.

Unless you're running 1k's with 8 inch exhaust fans in a huge ass tent, you dont really need air intake fans. Just make sure the lower air intake passages are fully open with some ducting and no light can get in (90° bends, vent covers, diy, etc.), put a filter (pantyhose, bandana, anything with good balance of filtration ability and airflow) and done. Keep the exhaust fan on at all times. If you need it at lower speed just buy a dimmer switch for it. If you can't buy a dimmer switch try adding a few feet of ducting, would help add some resistance to the fan. How are you running it? With a carbon scrubber?
