ok I posted on here a few days ago but didn't get what I was looking for. I need a mentor.

Attached is the cabinet I'm going to use to turn into a grow cabinet. I'm currently hydro growing in a PC which I plan on using to house the mother once my cabinet is complete. I will use the cabinet to veg and then flower.

Here are my conditions. I want to put the cabinet in my garage which is heated. Temp in the winter is around 55 degrees. Summertime temps in the garage varies- I live in MN from 50-85. I would like it to be stealth and little odor.

Here is my questions-

What is my list of thing I need?
What lighting would be best in my situation?
Where's the best place to get what I need?
Step by step on how to put it all together

I've been trying to find info on the net and now my head is spinning and I'm making it more difficult than it is. Can someone pls help? I want to get the show on the road ASAP.

I built a cabinet similar to that one for my grow op. Mine is 4x2x6. I put a partition in it to give me 2 2x2x6 sections. I use 6 42w CFL's to veg my moms and 6 23w CFL's for my clones in one side of the cabinet. In the other side I'm going to use either 12 42w CFL's or a 150w HPS for flowering.

At the bottom of the cab i have 2 passive intakes positioned on the front panel of the cab. One per side. For exhaust I use 1 70 cfm bathroom exhaust fan per side, positioned on the top of the cab. I have a desk fan for circulation within the cab.

I have heat problems. These cabs are difficult to keep cool. I dont know if its because of the ambient air, the small amount of cu. ft. inside each partition or both. CFL's are hot. I'm looking into some cool tubes or additional exhaust fans. I grow soil so I don't have much advice for your hydro setup. I'm sure you could do it in there, but for simplicity I would do soil.

Hope some of this helps, or at least gives you some ideas.

Well I am currently growing in Hydro with my pc but I would like to make this cabinet a soil grow.

Size of this cabinet is around 2x3x7ft tall.

Dont know how many plants. What do you guys think?

I think that I would line the box with mylar, it's pretty cheap and works well. You could just paint it white inside but that wood is pretty dark. You can get this on E Bay or the hydro vendor of your choice. Use eye bolts thru the top of the box for the light, use a washer between the nut and the box. From there yoyo's or chains hung from S hooks on the eye bolts. I use chains, they are strong and cheap, Home Depot stuff here. What light? There is a ton of info on this site and a million different opinions. If you go HPS I wouldn't go smaller than 250, look for one with the glass and air cooling. It's going to get hot in there and the closer you can get the light to the plants without the heat hurting them the more effective the light is. I have a T5 in a 2x2x4 veg box and it works well. Don't think that these lights don't make heat, they do. Without the fan on 7-8 increase in temps easy. Can you flower with T5? I have not tried it, some say yes others say no. Just an opinion, take it for what it's worth.

i would personally in a 2x3 cabinet partition it nearly in 1/2 so that you have technically 2 cabinets. i would run your flower in 2x3x4ft cabinet and the veg in the bottom 2x3x3 or you can keep your mother in the bottom since there will be more room than a PC case, that is unless your running a server cube case 3x4x5...

CFL's are fine for veg & flower in both hydro/soil. I prefer HID however the cost goes up when you need to cool the cabinet down and with such a small space to work in your best to stay with CFL's or LED's even

I run a slightly bigger cabinet than yours that i didnt partition as i want the most available flower space as possible but where you run into trouble is your widthXdepth. you cant realistically grow 5 plants in flower and get them 6ft tall and still yield decent amounts for the effort so i would strongly advise keeping them short. try not to top the plants as this will result in 4x the growth from that point. clip your clones, veg until you have root production then flower. The height can be managed by running lights vertically along the walls however you still must manage the foliage up to that point

id say go for a cooltube'd 400. If you have no budget :) you can peep my cabinet...ive probly spent 3-4k in materials thus far. and my next box im planning to build will use Icebox's and have it be completely sealed.
:peace:out.

Cabinet sealed and partitioned at 4.5ft. from the bottom.
That leaves 2.5ft. veg area on top lit up with something like this.
You can use low noise PC fans to cool this chamber. Maybe two fans 100+CFM working in series one blowing in, one sucking out. Noctua makes a strong but quiet PC fan...get googling.

The 4.5ft. flower chamber will use either a 250 or 400 HID of your choice. I would use a 400w CMH with an open ended cool tube to exhaust your heat and provide fresh air. A 400w CMH runs cooler than a HPS of equal wattage and a lot of people will say it produces better also. We don't want to get into that BS right now though. The exhaust end of the cool tube will need something like this. The 4" exhaust will run up through your veg area and out through the top of the cab. If you decide to go a cheaper route then get a 250 HPS. Either way just keep your ballast stored on top of your cab or mounted behind it. Just NOT in the cab.

You will need two small desk fans, one for each chamber to move air and aid in establishing strong stems.

Buy two digital pH pens.

Buy a package of 4' dryer vent tubing.

You should buy Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil and some organic nutrients. I recommend Blue Mountain Organics.

Next you need to mail me $100 cash as a consulting fee.

Seriously.

When my cash arrives I will wish you good luck and provide overseas tech support.

dammit.......I just realized how old this tread is. I'm posting anyways just so I don't feel like I wasted my time.
