I started a grow which started my whole world laughing...

Hi everyone,

I germinated my first seed a few months ago. Now I have a mini-stealth-cfl garden. I only really started to document earlier this month so some of my days may be a bit off. Here is my fairly standard set-up.

DIY Mini-Stealth Grow Tent (veg, clone, etc)
- emergency blankets secured over a computer cart and small storage container outfitted with reflective materials
- 2x26w 6500k cfls & 1x 20w 6500k cfl
- exhaust: 4" desk fan blowing loosely out the back (no duct), intake: 3" passive, air flow: 80mm pc fan
The tent is self-sealing.


DIY PC Grow Box (veg or flower)
- pc case lined with mylar windshield shade
- case will only hold 3x20w 6500k cfls or 3x23w 2700k cfls
- ventilation: old set-up; 80mm pc fan exhaust, 80mm pc fan intake / new set-up; 2x80mm pc fans exhaust, passive intake (pc fan hole)


DIY Bubble Cloner
- 2 tupperware containers
- air pump and stone
- floral foam (the kind for live flowers)


Soil Mix (one my plants are very happy with)
- half mg potting soil, half seedling mix (peat, vermeculite, perlite, etc), and a bit little bit of sand

Nutrients
- veg: mg all purpose 24-8-16, schultz cactus 2-7-7, a bit of epsom
- flower: i'm trying the schultz cactus and a bit of epsom

i cant believe you made a one site bubbler....and look at those FAT roots,you must have a green thumb!

Plant: no1 is the first. supposedly it's femenized. i have cloned no1's top.
Days 51-75

Plant: no1c is the cloned top of no1. i started in dirt and after 5 days the plant was looking really bad. i pulled it out to find no sign of roots. i cleaned it off, dipped it in rootone again, and dropped it in "bubs".

Plants: 1z2oc are from 3 seeds i started about a month ago. one is from a friend who's initial is "z". the other two are from a seed-packed bud from the oregon coast.
Days 5-30 (after planting germed seeds)


I started 12/12 four days ago. Could I have let them get taller? If yes is there still time to put them back into veg (no sex yet)?

sorry to seem like a bit of a n00b dude, but ive never grown with clones or hydroponics before. Just discovered CFLs (was gonna opt for LED but not enough research on them just yet), using a 60x60x140cm blackout tent, with mylar lining, its a DR tent, anyway, I got a 120w bulb with it, and I was wondering if its going to be powerful enough? Im only growing one plant at a time as I want it to be a beast! I'm growing the strain 'TrainWreck' bought personaly from The Green House in Amsterdam only 5 days ago. But my real enquiry is about the bubbler, I presume its just an airstone for a fishtank? and your just pumping it into the water (filtered rain water?) but are there any extra nutrients? and have you put any form of rooting substance on the plant? Just wanna know as clones seem to be the way forward, and I wanna hold on to certain strains for as long as possible.

I'm not sure about your light. Sounds like it should work. The water is just tap that has been sitting lidless for a couple of days for any chlorine to evaporate. No extra nutes (forming roots don't like nutes) and yes I did apply Rootone with fungicide.

I decided to raise 1z2oc closer to the lights in the pc case. They're 3-4 inches from them. I have 2x80mm exhaust fans, in line with the lights, blowing out the back of the case. It's only been an hour and my temp has gone from 80 to 90. Immediately after opening my case I put my hand under the lights just above my plants for about 30 seconds and it didn't feel too hot. Could my thermometer be giving false reading due to too much direct light?

no1 Day 83 - I topped the smaller branches below the two mains. I'm planning on letting those tips grow a bit more then I'm going to top the main branches.


no1c Day 32 - Started lst earlier this week.


1z2oc Day 38, Day 8 flower - These have only grown about an inch in their 8 days of flowering. No sign of sex yet. Hmmmm.? I started adding a bit of mollasses to their nutes. I also added a homemade sugar/yeast co2 bottle to the pc case.


In regards to lst, should I do a bit of pruning to expose more growing tips to light? Cut back the fan leaves or actually remove them?

I still am not sure what sex no1 and no1c are. And no1 was going to outgrow my tent within a month.
This is my plan:
switch no1c to 12/12 and sex after a couple weeks
clone the tops of no1
let no1 grow new tips for a month
if no1c is a lady i'll switch everything into 12/12 except the two new clones
if no1c is a man (i shudder at the though) i pull no1 and no1c...
...and plant new seeds

no1 Day 98 - I've topped the two main stalks and started cloning them.


no1c Day 47, Day 1 of flowering - LST with about 5 good growing tips.


1z1oc Day 53, Day 23 of flowering - That's right 1z"1"oc. One of my oc's was male. Again, these little plants are pretty much experimental. Baby buds.


2cno1 Day 1 - The latest addition, 2cno1 are the tops from no1. I made a new two site lid for "Bubs".


Finally, a couple pretty leaves.

I uploaded the wrong pc and tent pics in the last update. Here they are in their current state.

I'm ditching the Schultz Cactus food for flowering. Just going with MG Bloom and a bit of epsom.

I picked up a couple 40 watt 2700k bulbs for flowering.


I've converted the tent from veg to flower. 2x40w and 3x23w bulbs.


And I put no1 in the pc to veg out the new growth for a couple weeks.


I also picked up a micro-microscope. Believe it or not it magnifies at 40x, has a very clear view, and it was only $3.50.


The trichomes on 1z and 1oc are starting to get cloudy. Although I know the yield is only going to be a few bowls, I'm excited for my first harvest. And my second harvest, from no1c, should be much more bountiful as long as it's a lady.

My first clone, no1c, is female!! I'd take pics of the itty-bitty hairs but my camera sucks. I'll make sure to post when they are showing a bit more.

One more feeding for the little plants, 1z and 1oc, then it's flush time. The trichomes are about 50% cloudy.


My big clone, no1c, is really showing hairs. It's a fuzzy pic but you should be able to make out the hairs slightly below the pencil.


My no1 plant was vegging for a little longer but it was too tall for the pc case and kept getting heat stress so I threw it in the tent to flower.
