I think I should start over.

I have a product called sensizyme in there. I was trying to encourage good bacteria to break that down and overwhelm the bad stuff but I lost this round
i don't know if you can add enough enzymes to eat that much dead stuff without affecting other things.

tha'ts why i was thinking to somehow flush that top res as best as you can to get that stuff out.

good. i would try to flush that top res as long as you can and see what "goodies" come out.
I get goodies each time. I didn't realize how bad that is till now. The good news is most the matter I find now is almost disintegrated. Lots of it is just almost goo now. Unless more roots keep dying I may be close to the end of breaking them down.

I stopped disturbing the top part lifting to take a look. Do you think pulling out the top bucket often to look disturbs the hydroton enough to do root damage? I use to lift it a bunch of times a day checking PH, and checking on things in there. I love that about the res most since I installed it. I don't have to open the tent and disturb the plant.

the goo is the worst part. that's rot central.

unless you are jerking that thing out, no.
I try to be gentle. As for the rot central I'll keep using UC roots and h2o2 for now and skip benificials till my plant never looks tired. I may be thinking I fixed it and trying to give the plant a break from antiseptics too soon. Can I use enzymes with antiseptics?

I can put these inside the bulkheads. Should I?
Those just get full for roots and stop flow entirely. You need mesh bags so you can easily clean it off. Because every thing in your system floating freely will end up on the pumps intake, caught by the bag for you to pull right up, while the pumps still on, and wipe it right off.

Fish tank to the rescue! I'll run this for a few days see if it catches anything. It's a net.

Just an update. The plant looks happy this morning it does most mornings but it looks extra happy. I think the light made a difference along with UC roots and h2o2. I stuck more h2o2 in there. Tomorrow I'll use more UC Roots in the morning and one more dose of peroxide at night. Monday is water change day I will try to flush as much crap out of it before adding new water and food. Using RO for first time for mixing! I will mix the food at 50%. I don't know if I should try to keep up with antiseptics or try enzymes and beneficials. Maybe I can judge better with the flush see what comes out.

how much ppm/ec currently
it looks starved of food
keep it sterile with h2o2 and mineral solution, nothing organic as it feed bad bacterias and make h2o2 inneficient
all you need is the base nutes and h2o2

Currently its 550 of organic food. I'll switch back to GH food and give it another week of keeping it sterile? The leaves on the plant are rough from the wild ride it has. The newest leaves look ok to me but I can't read them well yet. My old leaves are a mixture of symptoms as I roughed this grow out. It's been a crazy ride for this plant as I learn. I'm not this terrible I just screwed up early and have been on a wild ride trying to understand and fix it!

Yes it's harder but possible. I've done it before. I only grow one plant so I can experiment. It's a hobby. It's not even that rare but it is certainly more trouble lol. I think it is a lot more sensitive to big problems from small issues. I don't know what to blame on my issues there was so much wrong. It's kinda why I want to pull the plug and start over bit I guess i am still learning alot. I'll be an expert in root rot but the time this is taken care of lol. It's also driven me to stop cutting corners and put a res in and a chiller. Buy a decent water pump and air pump, AC, etc. I think if I didn't run into these issues from mistakes now I would have once summer heat hits and I am much happier with my setup and know how to improve it.

I'll aim to implement all my new knowlage impress You guys on my second run ;)

Ok so this is what "the plan" is for food. My volume of water is 16L. I was mixing full strength before dropping to 1/2 strength. This chart is for 8L which is 1/2 my water volume. I know everyone hates these guys but I didn't know any better. I used it 10 years ago and liked it so this time I got the whole line before I learned about the bad things they do please don't judge me!
