Ive used a Moisture meter fo 40 years. I also can do the lifting test, but prefer the Meter.
Generally plants should need watered every 3.5-4 days, and when at full growth water with 20% of the soil you have. If youve got 5 gallons of soil, water with 1 gallon of water.
I myself use 20 gallon containers of Promix BX, and 1- 2 plants per 1000w Hortilux HPS. I also bend them over. With the right strain I get 28oz- 32oz per light. 60 days veg under 1000w. I start seedlings under 1000w Hortilux at 24 inches. Also 24 hours light.
Wow thats crazy. I think 20 gallon container is overkill but I guess thats y it holds water longer so less maintenance. But 60day veg for only an oz idk if that sounds gd either. And my friend uses an 1000w hps and gets 1lb per light in a big open bedroom. Im not judging cus u could have top shelf and way better final product which is my goal. Im just tryna peep different techniques at this point and start easy. I started my seeds in their forever pot with no other germination method on 18/6 from jump. I don't know which method is better so I picked the easiest

Who said anything about only an oz?? I get 28oz-32oz per light using a Super Silver Haze clone Ive had for 10 years. Thats 14oz- 16oz per plant, and Ive gotten as much as 22oz from a single plant under 1000w Hortilux.
If I only got 1oz, Id quit. If I cant get a minimum of 1lb per light, I wont use the strain. 1lb is the absolute minimum per light.

Also the plants use up every bit of the space in a 20 gallon container.

Oh yeah. I should prolly make that clear as well. You don’t wanna over do it when in between waterings. Because soil can become hydrophobic and water will run straight thru with little to no absorption. And you never wanna allow wilting That can be very damaging. Essp when lights on
Should I spray the plant? I won't be watering for a couple days I figure. The top leaves are pretty dry looking with the wilting going on. If the root can't bring it water up, will me spraying it make it better or worse?

Ok. My bad misread. Thought that was grams. LOL. Yep u rt. That big pot got u big rewards. And u got a top notch strain there. That super silver haze my man had from attitudeseeds was his best one yet in 10yrs. I always cop.

I doubt youre gonna flush out organic nutes. Especially if its hot.

I also think switching over to what is called Bloom Nutrients is a mistake, and in most cases a marketing gimmick.

According to Tissue Analysis weed likes a 1-1-2 nutrient ratio all the way through its growth cycle. The only exception is they can benefit from Mono Potassium Phosphate in weeks 2.5- 5 in an 8 weeks flowering strain.

Many of these so called flowering nutrients cut way back on Nitrogen. Which is a mistake.
All Nitrogen is, is Protien. Humans eat Protien, and our bodies turn it into Nitrogen. Plants skip the eating of Protein process, and just require Nitrogen.
During flowering plants will grow the most they have so far in their lives. It makes no logical sense to cut back on Protein, when youre trying to grow.

Like I said, plants just need a steady diet of 1-1-2 ratio, and each week should get slightly more food, up until the 6th week flowering, in an 8 weeks strain.
While I mostly use chemicals, the ratio I use is 19.5-20-39 as my basic feed. I feed small amounts every feeding.

I use Calcium Nitrate 15.5-0-0
4-20-39, and Epsom Salts, which equals 19.5-20-39. Weed likes 2x the amount of Potassium, as it does both Nitrogen, and Phosophorus.
I just increase the PPM each week as needed, but only slightly. This also applies to Epsom Salts. Epsom also contains Sulfur, and is responsible for Terpene production. Is also the #1 most common deficiency in container grown plants. Weed is a high magnesium user.

For organic I use Peruvian Seabird Guano, both Veg, and Flowering formulas, Potassium Sulfate, Kelp, Azomite, Calcitic Lime, Dolomitic Lime, at a ratio of 2/3 Calcitic, to 1/3 Dolomitic. I use Promix BX as my medium.
I got alot to learn on the feeding still. My last run thanks to hot ffof I didn't feed my girl hardly anything due to kept getn burned. The yield looks to be decent tho. Only feed her for 4 weeks. She's on week 9 flower n only getn water til I chop in a week. Im confused if I was to feed her half a dose of recommended nutes every other feeding or half a dose of nutes per week. I say half cus I was told use less then bottles tell u to use.

Im using foxfarm trio. I dont think my numbers get as high as your npk

Also, if you're new to growing, you should probably grow photos first. They don't have a time limit in veg like autos do.
I did my first run with photos and I got 2 banana dance photos in the same tent with the overwatered autos. I flushed them at same time and they're doing gd. They been in veg 5 weeks. Im waiting one more week to flip them.

If you think you are overwatering the plants try these.
Sus•tee aquameters. Cheap and real easy to use, just insert in the soil, water plant, sustee turns from white to blue in the indicator window. Plant needs water when the indicator window turns back to white.
They come in small, medium and large size.

Instantly bought one, didnt know they made one of these meters. Hope it's as fly as it might be

It was my good friend @cobshopgrow that told me about them about a month ago.
I bought one to test and it seems to work ok
Im really interested in it's depth range sensitivity...if i only want it to measure a 2" area 12" deep in my mound rootball core or measure the whole shaft of the probe? ill jam that thing in deep to get a reading

There are 2 arrows on the stick, one near the bottom pointing upwards and one near the top, below the indicator window pointing down.
Mine is buried in the soil with the top arrow showing above the soil by about 1 inch or 25mm in new money lol.
My pots are around 12 inches - 300mm deep.
