I want to grow a tree

Hey guys

The outdoor grow season is nearly here for us southern hemisphereian's and I want to grow one big ass plant!

I have a my indoor op going, so I just want to have a bit of fun and see how big I can grow one plant in a full season.

I need a strain that likes warm/hot dryish wheather, and grows big.

Any thoughts on what strain I should consider using?

Blue Dragon, I have hot climate / dry as well. Heavy yielding plant.

Blue dream will grow extremely tall and most cannabis tolerates heat especially if you get a nice deep roothole so that the roots stay cooler than the air temps. I would LOVE to live in a climate that i could finish a longer flowering tree. Sadly washington state USA is not that place.

KC Brains Brains Choice. Killer bud and tall as hell. Mine hit over 11' and took forfriggingever to finish flowering although it is supposedly a short flower plant that commercial growers love for that trait. Maybe Alaskan summer days. Haven't grown it indoors except to start them but they aren't indoor units anyway. Tree size it is.

Yeah like me and the KC Brains Brains' Choice. I thought a head start indoors would make it an almost sure thing. Not Alaska. And it made me wonder if I grew a seed crop (or some seed buds) in successive years if a strain might not make slight changes as far as flower times. Nothing major but even if days the way the snow flies here.

Yeah Alaska is fucked for outdoor growing most anythimg that originates in areas closer to the equator. Which part? I am a member of the tsimshian nation and have fam in Metlaketla annette island and Anchorage. Even though we arent native to alaska its where half of the tribe lives.

I will be using a pot, not sure of the size but it's huge. Once I decide on the strain I will place an order and start some under my propagation lights. I will pick the strongest and chuck the rest in my veggie garden. It should give me a good start before a 5+ month season.

Unless your pot is 100+ gallons you more than likely won't get a "tree" plant, You'll definitely will have a nice bush and if you look into LST or supercropping you could have a fucking hedge but i don't see a "tree" Unless like i said its 100+ gallons or in the ground. Good luck tho

yeah a great idea would be to dig a nice big hole and toss your mix in there. Especially if it gets real hot where you are.

Near Palmer. Yeah good summers are good but no summer sucks. Second one in a row. You live in BC? Yeah I finally moved indoors.

If you're looking for dank, and actually purchasing seeds not clones or something look up Big Bud Feminized. Can't go wrong.

Agree totally that Blue Dream is a great choice! But..disagree that Washington State isn't the place to grow it into trees. Ones poking through the top are Blue Dream. Definitely my vote!

righto, thanks guys I will ditch the pot idea and go straight into the ground.

Should keep me busy while I wait on the beans, I imagine I will need a decent hole

Nice dude I live about 200 yards from the sound so i always get molds outdoors.

Forecast looks good for next two weeks. Wishing you 30 days of sun.

good .. in my opinion pots are for indoor grow or for Ppl who cant keep em out at night Bc. of security ..

if you want a tree .. its in the ground ..

atlest when you move em outside ..
as I would give em a good head start and begin em atlest 2 weeks before I plan to move em out ..
(I used to start em in may and move em out in june when I knew night frost was history)

that will help the small seedlings get a good start and a better chance to survive the fist few weeks (bad wether/bugs)

make sure to pick a spot where it get atlest +8 hours of direct sun (can do with less .. 4 hours can actually grow nice plants but not trees)

and make sure to prepare the ground .. dig a nice 1x1 foot hole that is atlest 2 feet deep and fill it with a good organic soil mix ..
before you plant out the small seedling/veg plant ..

look in to stuff like blood/bone/feather meal and also Kelp meal Lime and epsom salt unless you plan to feed them by watering ..
witch can be tricky if you get a lot of rain in your part of the world ?

also make sure to remove all grow close to it (in a 4 foot diremeter around the plant) so it don't have any other plants close to it to compete with for light/nutrients or any plants that can spread bug/diseases ..

I will do some more research into organics and outdoor grows first, altough I can grow a decent vegie patch, so should be ok.

I am fairly lucky and have a good location, no neighbours, very good sun, and not much rain so I can control watering.

I would love to end up with somthing that would make you laugh just looking at it, like them pics but im sure it would take years to get right.

and yea I hope you grow a tree like them .. actually is`t that hard if you can make sure it got 3 things (beside them normal basic stuff like feed it the right nutriens at the right time)

1.) get it in the ground .. thats N0 1 and the different between them nice big plants you see Ppl. grow outdoors in hugh pots and them trees you see in them pics .. witch is in the ground ..

2.) make sure it get them +8 hrs of direct sun .. specially make sure it is in a spot where it will get most day light sun at late summer/fall when the plants receive less daylight hrs and need the sun to grow nice big buds ..

3.) make sure to get a good strain but I guess I don't have to tell you that in this thread


if the strain is good and it get enough sun and is in the ground .. there is no limit ..

then its all down to your feeding and how the wether Gods choose this summer`s wether ..

hope for a long sunny one that is`t to hot of wet .. make up for it by giving them water in the morning .. and do a lot of research on nutriens for out doors plants ..

I would for sure use them 50$ on some blood and bone meal some Bat guano powder some lime and a few more things and add em to the soil/ground .. instead of using 50$ on liquid nutrients .. might also last a bit longer then the liquid once and it is a lot more easy to just water ..

tho have a little of the liquid ready if you see the plants need it/more (specialy some nitrogen .. a normal cheap tomato nutrients can do it)

I dont think your roots would like being in a pot. They would prefer to be several feet underground where its nice and cool

I have decided to give Humboldt seed org's "Blue dream", and KC brain's "choice" a go, thanks to shivaskunk and hotrodharley for the suggestions

Now I will need two holes It should make for an interesting grow. I will start a journal when I get the beans.
