I want to start a new business... with fish tanks..

So i was looking uo on making my own fish tank aquariums.. maybee even a company... id like to fabricate some aquariums and sell cheaper than name brand pet stores... any thoughts???

fish tanks have come a long way from diamond-cut glass tanks of yore....
I'd invest in an edge grinding setup for instance....

I think it is a mainliner idea. Go for it.

Glass or acrylic?

This idea isn’t viable unless you already own thousands of dollars of equipment already to commercially produce tanks.

Fyi, they sell Waterbox at Petco now... those are fairly high quality tanks made from starfire glass. I dunno, sounds like it would be difficult to compete

Good idea but it's going to be hard to compete with stores I would try "custom" or be different like put a pot plant in the tank but it's in it's own tank inside. Lol

You know what dude, fuck it. I take it back. If you have the drive and the desire, then go for it. Hell, who knows. Maybe in a couple decades they’ll be selling your tanks at the big stores.

Do you have any experience building Fish tanks?

None at all.. but i do have tools and knowledge..
I built a 4x8 plywood grow groom an insulated it all by my self though.. within 3 hours... frame and doors... took me another 3 hours to insulate the inside and the outside...

I have a tiny LED company and compete locally against anything the international market throws our way with no capital and a direct to user model....Anything is possible... you sometimes just have to reinterpret what a business-customer relationship should be like...

I made tanks in town at our local pet store when I was a kid. Some still being used this day . I used to set up an build ponds and do interior tank designs. And you can whoesale purchase aquatic glass and sealant for semi aquatic or full aquatic fish tanks. NO you will not even come close to compete with areo tankmate topfin ect. (PetSmart is a retailer)
But locally you can crush it. So many people prefer to buy through a one man owned system that put more effort into the builds.
