Im thinking of moving back to the parents home for a while which is abroad in a country where power cuts happen daily.

We have a petrol generator rated at 3kw, however there is a 10 second black out till it cuts in, which isnt good enough as lights will keep going on/off and hurt the plants growth.

1 idea was to link up a series of car batterys and use as ups device to stop this 10 second black out and give enough juice from the batts till generator comes on. However im really not sure if this will work.

Any one have any ideas, there must be people growing in countries indoors where power cuts occour?

Several years ago I had a similar problem with my electric, I mean if it just thought about storming or raining or even a light breeze my electric would go out. It really started pissing me off. I have thousands of dollars invested in fishtanks and the electricity started causing problems with them. I have come home in the past and pumps are making all kinds of racket because no one was there to help them get going again. I have actually had my most expensive filter burn up because the electricity went out and it could not re-prime itself. So, after that I started calling the electric company, writing them letters, etc. Basically, stay on their ass and bitch non-stop until they fix it, that to me is unacceptable service. If they thought I was pissed when my pump burned up, they should see how pissed I get when I come home with 4000 dollars of dead fish.
