If I bought this inline fan how would I control the speed of the fan ? If I split the wire can I run it into a dimmer switch like my bathroom lights ?

I'm pretty sure I've seen dimmer switches set to an outlet before. Let me look around, I wouldn't cut the wire just yet.

from what I was told and also heard on alot of threads , that using a dimmer switch instead of a proper fan speed control switch is unsafe electrially . I just bought a vortex 6 inch and that thing sounds like a jet turbine getting ready for lift off, I despertly need a speed control also. There is one product I like , and that is the speedster fan control $30 and all you do is plug your fan into the switch and then plug the switch into your outlet, and your good to go.

Buy/build a duct muffler. It will drop the sound level coming through the ducting by about 1/2...
