I smoked 1 joint of my neighbor's home grown. 1 joint. I've been coughing shit up ever since. I'm fairly certain the dude has mold on his bud. I smoked moldy weed 1 time about 20 years ago in my teens. All my buddy's got this fire ass bud that was $70/half ounce. We smoked a lot of it. We all got very sick. Severe upper respiratory infections that lasted nearly a month. There was mold on the pot but it couldn't be seen with the naked eye and the bud didn't smell musty or anything like that. But the mold was there. This incident reminds me of that. And for that reason I will never smoke any one else's home grown again. It just isn't worth the risk between pesticides and mold. Be on alert dudes. There is moldy pot out there and you do not want to smoke that shit.

Dude, if you have not noticed mold, than its your bad. If it was just sprayed with some shit than I would blame yer buddy. Anyway, best thing to do to avoid this is... grow your own. Get well soon!

I don't have a problem with growing my own partner:

I was being polite indulging a neighbor's invite to smoke. I actually gave him some of mine a week ago. I assumed it was my own pot we were smoking. I was wrong. I'm telling him I'm quitting for a job that does random UA's so I don't hurt any feelings. Smoking after others is really not sanitary anyways.

I grow in water to waste passive hydroponics. I only occasionally do soil. I've been growing for 12+ years. I've never heard of PH adjusting your soil. Conditioning? Sure. PH adjusting? You'll have to fill me in on that one partner.

Thanks for the insight. It was mold. Often shitty weed means poorly handled and processed. Prime candidates for mold contamination. There are some people in this world you don't accept food products from. Let me put it real simple: if you wouldn't eat a cake baked by an individual you definitely do not want to smoke their pot. Both are food products. 1 takes a few hours. Another takes a few months. If that person can't be trusted to make a cake that's safe to eat that only takes a few hours how sanitary do you think their pot is they spent 3 months making? Food for thought.

If the weed is moldy then screw being polite or worrying about the guys feelings. Tell him you think his weeds moldy. He might not know any better.

But you don't actually know if the weed was moldy since you smoked a joint and didn't actually see the weed and you're only fairly certain. If I knew someone that was growing their own weed and I suspected it was moldy I'd tell them immediately. The most they can do is tell me I'm wrong.

It's like when you see someone with a booger hanging out of their nose. Some people won't say anything. I'm the first one to point it out and say "By the way, there's a booger hanging out of your nose".

I'm with this guy I'd tell him about his weed lol I appreciate constructive criticism as it's only going to make me a better grower.

I agree. Maybe the cat doesn't know any better. Or maybe you could have just caught a bug in the same time frame.
Either way tell them potassium bicarbonate should be their friend and it won't be an issue. Just for the record I mostly smoke my own for the same kinds of reasons.
Some people just don't understand what is going on I guess. Most of my friends that grow do. But some people I know, well they are the reason warning labels exist.

Smoking weed is sometimes the most unsanitary thing how often have you been at a concert or something like that and someone passing a joint around lol never would pass a hamburger around lol. Moldy weed you need to tell him he shouldn't be smoking it either and perhaps give him some tips? Not sure how close to him.

Nice setup you have there. What are the chances that it was from your grow? Did he actually say it was something he grew?

H2O2 wash/Fresh water wash

Did a wash today with H202 warm water followed by a fresh cold water wash. Here were the results. As we can see the H202 took care of the bulk of the crap from the ash and such. The fresh water rinsed the 1st wash off and offered additional cleaning. But look how clear that second bucket...

Proper care for outdoor crops is a must. Just as proper care for indoor is a must.

Zero. I run 2 50 pint per day dehumidifiers in my flower room during lights off. 34-37% RH on average. Lights on RH 35-40. 500CFM intake fan. 500 CFM exhaust fan. That is how you properly manage an indoor flower room in which mold can not and will not grow. I have never had mold on my pot because I'm not a haphazard fuck tard. This shit ain't rocket science man.

Yes, he grew it himself. Sends me pics all the time. Said he had humidity issues for a day or two and cranked up the dehumidifier. Something tells me he had much larger ventilation problems than he let on.

I will tell him. Honesty is the best policy, right? Gotta put kid gloves on for this conversation. Criticizing someone's pot is like criticising their wife's tits. It's gonna be awkward no matter how you approach it.

I know, right? He insists on "matching me" a joint any time we smoked in the past. He's at least a diplomatic kinda cat not wanting to leech off his neighbor. Truth be told I don't usually want to smoke any one else's bud. I've only ran into 1 other grower that had quality like mine. I don't do anything special, but I live in my garden and I spend a lot of money on my setup. Most people are too selfish and self serving to care for another life. Plant or human :)

I have a serious question. You had stated you wont smoke anyones homegrown. But what about dispensary weed?

Thing is that shit is mass produced many times outdoors. The thought that each grower takes proper care to check all bud for mold is slim to none.

All you have left is your own in this scenario. Which can be rough when you are sick of the strains you have grown.
