i was posting a reply to what the other guy said about wal-mart.

americans have no idea they're being steered into doing shit they that they dont even want to do, unknowingly. victims of clever marketing and advertising, we have no idea that we're in a maze like a bunch of rats.

you got it.

who is the other guy that talked about wal mart. also i watched a movie about how wal mart places sales and impulse buys close to more expensive items they want you to buy. they are running mom and pops businesses out of town. but when i want a shovel, do i want a 22.00 dollar shovel from mom&pops or a 9.99 shovel made with slave labor???

i used to work in advertising, now i work in the film industry.

and i'll tell you, los angeles is full of scum. and they'll do anything for money. the problem is that the general public is too short sighted to see the level of manipulation we're being berrated with.

"buy this, it'll make your life easier" ........... "buy this car, people will notice you"

and it never ends. people do it; even those who swear off superficial nonsense do it in smaller ways.

600$ iphone for instance. i can go on and on.

these people spend tens of millions of dollars to figure out ways to control what youre thinking and get inside your head to "influence" spending habbits.

being inside the trenches, you see this shit, and honestly, it gives me the creeps.

I too live in LA and I have to agree with you. There are so many people crazy for opulent things. What I don't understand is why would you make yourself into a target? I actually have a good living, but when I walk down the street, you wouldn't know it. I wear Chuck Taylors and jeans. I mean, if I was a crackhead, desperate for cash, and you step out of your Lexus with your Rolex on, and your $800 suit, you are practically ASKING me to rob you.
And LA has it's share of crackheads, as well as people wanting to sell you the status symbols needed to be the most fashionable target for crime out there.

Honestly, I don't get it. I mean, really, why would you wait, and then pay a cover charge to go in somewhere "glamorous" to spend $15 for a beer? Why do you need a Hummer when you live in a Desert Basin where it never snows and the closest you get to off road is taking your kids to Soccer Camp? I would rather spend my money on having a good time with the people I love than show off my money and alienate myself to anyone that isn't a materialistic asshole. Who are these people trying to impress? Maybe they are trying to get laid, but then you end up with a shallow gold digging partner who treats you like a checkbook. It's just stupid, flat out.

Since you're ok with where you are. Do something to help someone else that REALLY needs it.

Thats what people do when they have too much $.

and i can't find anything to buy. i feel i need to make un-needed purchases to bring joy to myself. i have some money but i can't find anything to buy. i have all i really need or want. it's not a lot but i'm happy. i should feel good about this. most of the time i do. but there is this itch/urge to spend money. i know it feels good to "be able" to spend money, but maybe that's all it is. so i sit here shopping. shooting down all my own wants. do i really even want that? no not really. there has got to be something. but then why? why does there have to always be something wanted or needed. like i said i don't really have a lot. i could probably travel but i'm more a home-body. i enjoy the security and safety of my house. i have been in way to many "kidnapped" scenarios to ever again get more than 50 miles from home and feel safe. i could buy a bad-ass car. i'm looking but how much do i REALLY need to spend. do i really need a "show car"? no. i could get one but then i would feel like i had something to prove. i just can't see myself "pimping around in my ride". maybe a drive thru the mountains. or a dash across town.

oh, the all-mighty dollar. what shall i do?

yea man... it sounds like FDD did enough giving away and spending for awhile... he donated a QP... I would never do that!!!... maybe if I had like 50 pounds... do you have that much???
and he spent 700 for people to smoke his weed!!! and get to trim it!!! and hang out with it!!! they should have paid him!!!
lots of people would have done it just so they could think they were cool... but you would need to blindfold them in and out... but thats not hard... you might want to get a disguise... and rob a bank... and smoke some crack....
yea man... we would have trimed. and taken any unwanted buds... I mean... .maintained eexcelent and consistent quality bud inspection... and we get the ones that fail:)?
but it would have saved you 700... and we could have had fun... and good time... would have benn had... sigh... so depresing... I might as well go jump off a bridge...
