Well I apologize, I thought you were being a smart ass. Yes indeed it does affect a plant... I know Ive read it on here some where but I can find a link regarding it Im sure if I search.
The plants whole entire environment has to do with the sex of a plant.
You are not going to get a female plant if the ph is effed up the whole time I guarantee that. Even if its a fem seed, it will herm.

Yeah if you can find the link it I'd love to read it because I haven't ever heard of such a thing and it's not in any of the growers books I have read either. :peace:

Cool temps and high humidity will lead to more females from seed growth--and FG was just pointing out fact---ph has zero to do with male/fem ratio's from seed-no big deal---let's move on---sorry to hear about the males---as one of the posts said---just clone the female and you will be dialed in. It does suck that you will have to wait another week or so but on the bright side--one of your clones could be a great mother or keeper:mrgreen:. Best of luck!!!.

Hmmm strange, what books have you read? Most that I have actually note that when a plant is acidic it tends to be male...

Just search that and you will find tons of links on it.

but here is the first one off my search for sh*ts n giggles. I really thought you were being fecisious hence my first reply to you. Again I apologize. I assumed you knew were well knowledged about it with all the rep.
Promise I wasnt intending to be a biatch. :eyesmoke:

"The pH should be between 6.5 and 7.5 since marijuana does not do well in acidic soil. High acidity in soil encourages the plant to be predominantly male, an undesirable trait. "

LOL... well I'm not an expert but I do know quite a bit about growing and have read a ton. Nothing I've ever read talks about PH affecting gender. The things I have seen printed about producing more females is: lower temperatures, higher humidity, more of a blue light spectrum.

I'm gonna have to say I still think PH has nothing to do with producing females. LOL... of course I'm not sure how much those other things I posted affect females either... I mean if it were a guarantee then we'd all be growing in 65 F rooms with 90% humidity.

Heres actually someone on here who said the same thing... its actually everywhere and its not funny at all really...

The only way I know of increasing the chances of getting a female plant is to neutralise the soil. Get a ph tester and some organic growth promoter from a local grow shop. You should mix the ogp with the water, follow directions on bottle carefully. Use ph to test the water, the water will change colour, use the chart to make sure the colour of the water matches the colour relating to the ph 6.5. Males prefer a more acidic soil.

This is something that pretty much any person with experience will know so I dont even need to argue that Im right. Most of my grows have been 90-100percent female. I think that has to do with a perfect growing environment. PH is the first thing to check when you have a problem.
Anyhoo, have a good one. Im not arguing over this, when I was only trying to help.

I go feminised now b/c i have had horrid ratios with my past 2 grows. Now i Only buy fem seeds, i would rather run the risk of hermis;-)

ill check it out bro thanks, i just got fed up with my turnouts, seems like out of 6 i get 1 female(BRUTAL) I just assume go feminised, it cost a lil more but think of how much time and nutes are wasted on feeding and caring for males. but yeah thanks ill check it

Take crash course on cloning! Frist off find out if your train is cloneable. What strain might I ask? Or secondly do what i've done before and inbreed them for a whole sack of beans! Takes some time but it's worth it. you might get some crazy phenotypes! If lighting or p.h. was a factor in your fortune then the females you do have are pretty stable. Pick the weakest male if you like the female qualities or pick the male that you think might be best. It's not rocket science your just inbreeding a stable strain. Not too much harm done there. Plus you can still smoke your seed weed. Growing is fun! Then go find a mountain side........Just on a crazy stoner tangent.

Heres my current breeding project. The two females in the first picture are going to be dusted by the pollen of the huge he/she I created by heat stress! They are kept seperate at the moment. I will try to get a close up of the underside of the hermie (her nuts!) They are a few days from poppin' open. My camera don't zoom well. But I assure I will have some interesting femenized seeds of my very own self created gene pool. If I find something I like I clone it! Or I could tediously go ahead with stablizing it. I've only bred and stablized one cross before and it took me almost a year! I'm breeding these for outdoor use next spring. It's mexico meets mendo and I have no name for it yet. I'm gonna wait to see what comes out of the new beans and go from there. I've had alot of good accidents over the years!

Its confirmed I had 7 males and 1 female. I already chopped the males and cloned 7 new females. Hopefully they all take root. I have written about it on some other posts but for those of you who were interested. The strain is AstroQueen. 70/30 sativa/indica. It comes from an AstroBoy and a SpaceQueen breeding.
