Im looking at buying some tds metter and a ph meter???

What have you found to work good while sticking to a budget? I didnt think I was going to get my seeds so fast and now its time to buy some meters. Just wanted to know what rui thought about some meters? Thanks Guys
 
I'd say here are the pros:

1) light weight
2) easy to read display
3) hold button to grab the value then pull it out to view it
4) haven't had to change the battery in it...ever...just takes a single 9v...

cons:

none? I haven't really found any reason there would be a con to it...it does what its suppose to do...tell me my ppm :D

3% isn't that much...at 1000ppm it could be +30 or -30ppm...that doesn't seem all that bad to me :D

I mixed up a super strong batch that went up to 2900...if it goes over 999 it flashes an x10 and starts over...so 1200 reads 120 x10 :)
 
Oh alright I see how that works... sounds good to me. Any other takes? I only ask because this is a forum and thats the point....... to get lots of opinions

well you can spend all you want on the ppm meter...but its a very simple device...with simple electronics...pass electricity through...read resistance...so any PPM meter will do

PH meters though get pricey quick...I don't have any experience with them, but thats where i'd sink money personally...or get one that does both PH and PPM :)
 
in my opinion you get what you pay for ... don't cheap out on this purchase.... I started 8 years ago with a Hanna TdS/ec/ph meter... a great instrument ... I dropped it in my resivour ... I was broke at the time so I replaced it with a cheaper Hanna Tds and a separate ph meter... they were ok but I missed my old meter... so when I was flush with cash again I bought the original one I had... I think they are around 300$.... but if u don't drop it in your reservoir u will have it for ever(only thing that wears out is the probe) and they are replaceable... comes with calibration solutions... try looking at alternative garden supply... they ship in plain brown boxes.. but their return address is on the label ...

I bought a Hanna "Combo", it does EC or PPM, Ph and temp. Mine however says "waterproof" on it. It fell into my rez many times and I never had a problem with it. I used it for many years, but recently bought a Bluelab combo and like it just as much.
 
I use the Oakton eco PH1 and the Oakton Eco TDS Low.. works great for me so far. just make sure u keep clean and calibrated..
