I’m Pretty Sure I Have Thrips.

I just found early stages of thrips in my veg tent. Not sure how they got there. This is great.

I have house plant insecticide. Is that safe to use? If not. How to I get rid of these fucks? Also how the hell did I even get them. Is this a environment thing or did they basically come in on me from the outdoors? I’ve never had them in any of my grows. or is it because I haven’t been fully allowing my soil to dry?

Edit: I found a recipe to make my soap. I used dawn dishsoap and olive oil and sprayed it on the plants. Top and bottom. I sprayed with this home solution and look at my plants. Doesn’t look good. Is there any coming back from this?

Spray plants with some regular water preferable 6.5-7.0ph, honestly doesn’t matter, but spray those ladies down. Grab some neem oil and spray once or twice a month. Also let the soil dry out a bit, I like to let the top of the soil get kinda dry and I do that frequently, keeps them out. Some people add a layer of sand to the top, about an inch or so. Marijuana is very resilient in the veg stage, they will come back...just don’t continue to spray them with those concoctions and you’ll be fine

You want castile soap. I mixed it with neem, both at 1 tbsp per gallon. It seemed to knock the thrips out but they came back.

Next I'm trying a bt product, such as spinosad. Check out this link for details.

Things look terrible now. But I sprayed them with water and now riding it out. Hoping for the best.
Are the pots heavy? Just let it dry itself out now, water when dry, maybe crank your exhaust fan up and get some more humidity out of there too.

thrips wouldnt do that kind of damage, they mostly just leave little silver fleck marks all over the leaves, like gnats they've more of pain than anything.

spray with venerate its a bioinsecticide has a residual, is translaminar, and will prevent the thrips from feeding, which is the main issue with how they negatively affect your plants after a few weeks they will die off entirely.

50ml/G every 4 days for 5 applications. Lights on or off but off is better.

Identify type of thrip, Western Flower Thrips easy, the Echinothrips not so much.

Also if you can run cooler room temps this will help reduce breeding cycle times. This does 2 things create less Thrips over time and allow you to have more applications within a breeding period increasing its affect.

So after my dawn dishsoap incident and plants almost dying. They came bounced back. But now the thrips are back. I can see a few on the under side of my plants. Getting neem oil quickly is going to be difficult and these are gonna go into flower soon. Any home remedies I can use?

Get something with spinosad like Monterey Garden Insect Spray.

It doesn’t mention what type of plants I can use it on. Don’t want to use it on cannabis if it’s not safe for consumption right.

My plants bounced back from the dish shoap incident. I may just order stuff from amazon and not risk fucking them up again.

Don't flower unhealthy plants if you need to flower soon get new plants with how much those are damaged it's going to take like a month to really bounce back. If they spend the first couple weeks of flower unhealthy you will lose out on alot of yield.

Edit: I like to spray with hydrogen peroxide you have to dilute it alot for foliar spray you can put it in when you water too. Works great for gnats I don't think I've tried it on thrips but it's supposed to kill the eggs

my plants don’t look like that anymore. They have fully healed and are huge and all green. Completely bounced back. But yesterday I found a thrip on the under side of one of my leaves.
